OK, try this on.

Price a set of Fuchs, 9x16 911, 8x16 951, with new Kumho Ecsta ASX tires (less than 1000 miles new, and a year old). Wheels in decent shape - a couple of nicks, original anodizing intact , good looking, both pairs made in 1985. At one time, 9x16s were running above $2000 per pair, but I'm guessing tire availability has diminished that some. The 8x16s are the hot ticket for the widest rubber you can wear in the front for the 3.2 cars.

So, what kind of pricing could someone expect on this set of four wheels and tires? I was kind of thinking the whole mess for somewhere north of $3000, but how far north?

I purchased a set of 9s for $1,800; 911 7s or 951 8s for $750.

911 16x8s are the wheels that cost..... $2,000 to $2,200.

Wow. I had no idea. I figured the track guys would want the 16x9s because more rubber.

But tire availability is a bit of a hassle. I was thinking that I might beat the rush and go 17" sooner, but if I'm only going to get $2500 for the whole deal, it might be nice to just wear the wheels that are on there, and wait until the tires are old/worn.

Yep I agree, 911 16x8s are worth more than the 16x9s.

Really? I had no idea. Anybody wanna trade? Its surprising as most tires suitable for the back if a 911 would be fine on 9s. 225 is a bit too stretched I guess.

Eric, that setup is worth $2400 or so to the right person, IMO.

16x9s and 951 8s are the setup I was looking for before I found some Ruf 17s and put tires on them. Its nice having tire availability with 17s but I really wanted fuchs (85 date codes would match my car too, where were you 6 months ago? :P ). I still do and Id make you an offer if I had the money for another set of wheels.

When I was looking I would have readily paid $2400 for the set and I consider myself a frugal shopper so I think that getting closer to 3k shouldnt be too difficult if you can sell the buyer on your tire choice.

If it were me Id run them until the tires are worn and keep an eye out for some 17s in the mean time. I think you'll get close to the same amount with or without them so you may as well use them up.
