Hmmm, barn find in the making?
Coworker mentioned today that his neighbor has some sort of Porsche in his barn covered with a tarp. I might wander by and take a look next week.
If it is anything even remotely interesting, I might try and fill the guy in on how prices are going lately. Maybe interest him in "cleaning out his barn". I'll try and remember to bring a camera, so I can get candid photos of the thing, assuming my co-worker is not sending me on a snipe hunt. |
Give me a ring if it's anything good!

Barn finds and owners out of the loop really brings out the worst in many - not talking about you, Eric, but prepare for pm's to hit your inbox :)

Folks can PM me all they want, but I'm not going to put them in touch with the guy. First, I have to figure out if the car is real, and if the guy is interested in selling. THEN, I have to establish the condition of the car to figure out a ballpark value. If, after all that, I might help the guy sell it, but that'll be by his request. |

BTW Eric, has tom6284 contacted you yet? :D |
Just remember who your buddy is here. :)

Since I haven't seen the car, or even talked to the owner, I don't know anything yet. I have kind of been wondering how barn finds happen. I suppose they happen a bunch of different ways, just like any other discovery, but do they most often happen in "friend of a friend said..." or via a relative or close friend who just never mentioned the car that's been gathering dust for decades? |

Tom will have a "friend" who is interested in it.

It's probably just a 924 anyways...

I also figure that if it's a longhood and has been sitting for a while, it can sit a few more weeks. |

I was driving home on Mulholland this am and there was a dust/dirt covered 911SC sitting at the end of someone's driveway by the road. It looked to be in great shape, actually, but obviously had been sitting. Looked like someone rolled it down to the road to either put a For Sale sign on it or have it picked up by a tow truck. Of course I pulled over and walked up to the house, could it be an unwanted 911? :) Turned out that it wasn't for sale and the owner really likes the car, not sure why it sat so long but it was being towed to a shop to be serviced and put back on the road. I guess the only point is that I drive by that house everyday and never knew their was a 911 covered in dirt in the carport. There are so many old cars out there in the world. |
