Trying to figure out price for my HPDE/Track SC

Grand prix white. Been modifying it for track duty but with 2 young kids, I just don't have the time and am buying a ready built scca car.

Engine: 1 1/2" headers, Bursch muffler, removed air pump and installed plugs, Carrera tensioners, have the oil lines for the headers. Solid mounts for engine, sport for trans.

Suspension: Delrin bushings, front and rear weltmeister sway bars, adjustable spring plates, turbo tie rods, extra bilsteins for re-valving, 22/29 T-bars.

Brakes: braided lines, new m/c.

Wheels: Cup replicas (I believe 17 x 7&8) with Toyo r888 225/45-17 & 255/40-17, 2" spacers in the rear, Steel lug nuts.

Interior: Blue OMP seat, Black Corbeau (wide), Blue Simpson 5 pt cam harness, Black 5 pt cam harness (both out of date), RS door panels, RS carpet set, safety devices full bolt in cage, momo steering wheel w/Porsche crest. Bronze bushings for pedals and probably for shifter.

Body: Turbo flares, not installed so still stock panes intact, turbo front and rear bumpers with openings in front for brake ducts and oil cooler. Choice of 2 tails. 1st fake turbo needs minor repair, Other is a real IROC that needs major repair. Also have a very light fiberglass targa top, along with stock one that needs recovering.

Car needs finishing, windshield, seal and rust repair around the windshield, 1 broken head stud and an exhaust stud that needs repair. Paint is crappy at best. Tires are near the end of their life.

I'm probably forgetting something.

Not sure on asking price as, since it is a real project, I'm not sure what the market value is. I have an idea of what the parts are worth, though

That is what I thought a completed car would be. Although a good short hood should be worth at least that much.

Just saw another one in the DE/Racing forum. $20k with an open trailer included.

Where are you located?

Worst part is that once I have the time to get into something like this again, it'll cost me a lot more. Kids, gotta love them.

As your car sits it will be difficult to find a buyer. The value is in returning the car close to stock. It will take a bit longer but you could probably realize .40-.50 cents on the dollar selling your track bits and use the proceeds to fix the motor, interior and paint. You have some interesting stuff and I bet some of the items were acquired used from track guys returning their car to stock so they could sell it. You would probably then be able to sell the car on one of the auction sites for around 15k maybe a bit more if the paint turns out nice.

It is difficult to put a price on it without pictures but as a incomplete track/project car it may only bring offers of 5-7k

Patrick, my parts price assumption is based on used value even though a lot of it is new. So based on your statement I should give the car away as you don't even think it's worth the price of the mods used?? Really??

You can always lower your price, but start too low and you look like an asshat when you try to backpedal out of a deal because you are getting so many calls. Don't be scared to ask what you think it is worth.

Unfortunately that's the nature of the beast with track prep cars.....they truly are worth far less than the sum of their parts. With the recent changes to PCA rules/stock classes the 3.0 seems to be falling out of favor as well, so that's another hit.

That being said, $7k is absurd. Without seeing pictures I would be shocked if you couldn't clear $12.5k for the car and another $1,500 or so for the spare parts.

Please post a current picture of your car

I will try and post pics as soon as the weather breaks and I get a moment. Of course I'd prefer 12.5 to 10k but I also don't want to deal with dozens of tire kickers. I'd love to see her happy on the track. Just wish I could be the one to do it. Oh well.

Feel free to make an offer. I'm getting a lot of locals asking stupid questions about it and would much rather have it go to an enthusiast.
