Typical bull **** ad and car...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/813298-fresh-911s-1977-sale.html

This is why this market has the best of the ones with little knowledge of these cars.

Notice all the nice painted engine parts. They will smell nice once the car is warm.

Why did he toss the A/C? Why spend all that money and not fix the odometer?

Are you implying that Don does not know 911's? I assure you, he does.

... Then I wonder if he would buy an unremarkable car with a broken odometer & some freshly rattle canned parts for almost $35 grand ?

He probably wouldn't, and neither would I!

Personally, just from the pictures, looks to be about a $20K-$22K car.

I was just questioning the OP's suggestion that the seller has little knowledge of these cars. Unrealistic and a bit optimistic with his pricing? Yes.

I've met Don and know he is passionate and knowledgeable about 911's. It's his car and he can ask whatever he wants for it. Whatever it actually sells for will prabably be closer to true market, if he's willing to part with it for that.

The ad says the car has been driven 1000mi/yr , once a month I would guess.

Is that not enough to prevent this ?
"After (not) driven by PO enough to keep seals and gaskets from drying out"

It looks like a nice car.
I'm with Josh D. He can ask what he wants for the car.

I did not imply that the seller doesnt know the cars. I meant that people with little knowledge of the cars easily can be "tricked" by a car like this. Sorry, English is not my first language.

Welded on SC/Carrera flares?

What is a "prophylactic upgrade" and "hydroloc tensioners"? Sounds like something Ronnie uses in his bedroom.

If the good ones "are worth hanging on to" then why is he selling this piece?

That guy is the definition of a "flipper" if there ever was one.

Absolutely he can. And we can discus how overpriced it is, and how foolish a buyer would be to pay $34,500 for it ...

Christian, this link is a good find...

In the link, he lists this car for $24.5 vs $34.5 in the ad. What are the chances he fat fingered the price in the ad? $24.5 seems much more reasonable.

Now didn't we just have a talk about appropriate times for you to operate the ole' webcam (and yer not supposed to talk about what you see, either)!!! If you keep this up, I'll deny you the and we both know how upsetting that will be for you!

Now about those "words":

1) prophylactic upgrade = an upgrade meant to prevent a potential problem (like a prophylactic is a pregnancy prevention device), so in this case, the case-savers were installed with the intent to prevent head studs being pulled from the case. This is certainly an attempt at humor on the add makers part, it's fairly funny, but you make a good point about how many people would not understand what he is talking about (best to save the word-smithing for something else - like m/board posts!).

2) hydroloc tensioners - no doubt a misspelling of the word hydraulic - it does seem like proofreading one's listing is a good thing to do when asking such big money - makes one appear more serious that way.
