what is a fair price? $26K ? for a 1988 coupe 911G50

We want to sell a 1988 911 Carrera coupe white/dark blue interior- Excellent original condition. Has Factory Sport Seats, front and rear spoiler 115k miles. Runs absolutely perfect. Needs really nothing- only non-original thing is radio but it has a high end blaupunkt Is 26k fair?

More than fair. They are going for a little more than that these days. Do your homework, (which I know you're doing here), check ebay finished sales, etc.

Coupe? Way low.
Of course condition and records are everything, but these cars are commanding $30k+ these days.

That car wouldn't last 1/2 hour at $26K on the PP classifieds if it's solid.

At that price, even on a Craigslist ad, it would not last over a few hours. I found this out last week in two situations on the SF one. Depends on how fast you want to sell the car. There are a lot of cars way overpriced. If it sits for more than a few days, it is overpriced.

My 88 G50 Coupe with 150K on it, that sounds very similar to the condition of yours cost me $24K three months ago. If I was still looking and your car had good compression & leakdown with solid service records & PPI I probably would of considered yours for about $30k.

Hey Max - do your homework on prices before you get screwed!!!!!

Your 26K is way low as all agree here. The 1988 with G50, especially as a coupe is one of the best and most desired 911's around. Its the last great 911 body shape, the G50 transmission is a wonderful departure from the 915 and the coupe adds value. Adjust your asking price. You will be glad you did.

Well this is certainly one way to generate interest and engage potential buyers in a bidding war...

I agree with Mr. Bonus, you couldn't have primed the pump better if you tried. I figured the g50 carreras were still $18-24k based on sources like Sports Car Market and Excellence, but prices really shot up this year. I don't think it is a bubble. I recently moved my 87 targa from under its cover on the driveway into the safety of my garage after a half dozen people knocking on my door, asking if it was for sale (over the past six months), got me thinking it might be tempting to car thieves.

Good luck, your car sounds like a beaut!

I concur that 30 feels right, if for no other reason wouldnt you rather see the money from the sale than leave it on the table for a reseller to do the same? And to be clear, there is still some profit left in a car after that once a few superlatives are throw its way and its given a good cleanup.

To semi thread jack... How does a recent top end and clutch change the estimates you all would give ?

our thoughts were to price it to the point where it would sell quickly and not have to wait for that "one" buyer that negotiates to the same price as we were originally asking. Sometimes you have to ask yourself does 1 or 2 thousand going to change anything in my life? I see alot of sellers holding out for top dollar only to just keep "TTT" with thier ads. It will be listed here on Pelican most likely next week once we take some pics. Thanks!
