With Dan selling that car I wouldn't even get a PPI on it. Shame I couldn't get it through smog here.

Seemed $5-6k under market IMO. I almost called to offer gears and LSDs in trade.

Did it have a Carrera 3.0 motor or just a p&c swap?

I think it was swapped. And shortly after my first post I remembered I have an '83 SC engine in storage. I should have jumped on this one.

How do you consider an '86 with a smaller motor than stock a sleeper?

A stock 3.0 Carrera engine made 202.7hp. A US 3.2 Carrera engine makes 207hp.

Take the 3.0, add Webers (add says nothing about what exhaust is on it) the car is going to be making 215-220hp. Sure, you can get the same sort of power with a Wong chip and cat bypass. But the bottomline is this engine coupled with the 7:31 ring and pinion in the gearbox will run circles around any stock '86 Carrera.

If I was home (on vacation) I would've definitely gone to see this one…it had value emblazoned all over it...

The size of an engine is not the sole determination of power output. A 3.0L 911 engine with carburetors and flowing exhaust will make more HP. and have much better throttle response and lively and higher RPM.s than a stock 3.2L.

Hey all I'm now in the club.... I couldn't be happier with the car and with how Dan treated me.
Just for the whole story...just started a new job, drinking my coffee and doing my lunch search of pelican for the perfect car. Show my friend across the cube the ad, and he says" lets take a walk theres another Porsche guy you need to meet"(turns out he was a faithful customer) half an hour later the three of us are on a conference call with Dan...15 minutes later I was on my way to Oxford.

I picked it up last thursday and about 400miles and three tanks of gas later couldn't be happier.
Once it's a little less loud it will be a total sleeper, in a friendly 3rd gear pull with an E46 M3 it has a significant advantage.

It is grandma approved...the person who taught me to drive.
and has found friends in the parking lot.

Super.

Welcome Kevin.

There's much Porsche lore to get into hereabouts. You will grow to appreciate your car even more over time. I'm betting on it.
