69 912 for $32k?

1969 Porsche 912 Sunroof Coupe, Absolutely rust-free CA black plate

This seems a bit low, doesn't it?

Seems too high to me. Several original parts are missing, door panels cut, chrome bumperettes missing.........................

I would love to think that price is reasonable. My 1969 California 912 is pretty nice and rust free. I would never believe it's worth 32k.

912

I think I would be most concerned about the aftermarket Golde sunroof

Well, my understanding of the 912 market is exposed.

I recently paid $22k for this '69 912, which looks to be pretty original except for the color and the wheels.

So I hope he gets every penny!

Why shouldn't 912's be selling for decent money? or why is half the price of a comparable 911 too much? The 912 is definitely more than half the car a 911 is. Really nice 912's sell for good money, but because they were so cheap for so long, there is a lot of junk out there as well, and that still seems to influence the perception of values. I know of quite a few 912's that have sold for over 60K, including my old car, but those were all really nice cars.

I was excited to see the first couple pictures of the "1967 Stunning car", but looking at the rest of the pictures, it's little disappointing, repainted cars with so-so interiors don't command that type of money, even if the interior is "original". He'd probably get closer to what he asking for it if he'd recovered the dash, and recovered, or at least re-stuffed the original seat covers properly. Seems closer to the couple of Mid-50k cars currently art European Collectibles than to a 70K car.

75k just sounds crazy to me for that 912 but I'm probably totally wrong….

I remember the 22k one above and that one for that price is sweet in my opinion

Have to confess I didn't look closely at the "stunning" car. Browsing from a phone has limitations. But I'm glad to hear some real life input that these cars are selling for $50-60k. I knew it was coming.
My car won't ever be in that realm. It's just a decent driver. But nice to know that they are starting to be appreciated, no pun intended.

Thanks for the compliment BK911. The tires are 185/65/15. I agree with bmendel "the 912 is more than half the car a 911 is"
Maybe 911 longhood prices have increased so much that buyers are looking at 912's?
If your looking for originality, Is a good condition all original 912 worth the same as a non numbers matching 911T in similar condition? What would you rather have? I realize these cars are worth what someone is willing to pay, so who really knows.

"Rust free"

This brings up a good question. Is an early 912 (or 911) truly rust free? The 69 912 I purchased was from California and I just finished replacing floorpans, rockers, etc.

Second question, Is a restored 912 worth more than a totally original with some rust and ratty interior?

My restoration is almost done and will be posting pics soon.

Cheers,
Tom

912's are great cars. When I had mine the 912 Registry was just getting started and it help greatly in the recognition of the 912. It also brought a group together that improved the cars. When the club had its first Rendezvous in 2003 I questioned if some cars would even make the tour drive. Today the cars in the club are beautiful examples of early Porsches.
912's are getting the respect and dollars for great examples out in the world. But the car in question at the top of this thread is far from a $32K car. Just my 2 cents........
Rust free 911/912's? Well if you look hard enough I'm sure you would find some on most cars but it is one of the reasons dry climate area cars are sought. Much less chance of rust. My 69 912 was a California car and still had all the original floor plans, etc. They are out there and yes they are a premium now if the car is a great example. Restored? Original? Clean and correct will almost always bring more dollars than modified. But each owner is different and its why it creates discussions on car values.

This photo is off the picture site of the car.......zero rust? Could be some work to do here. As always buy the best example you can find! It saves you in the long run.

Yeah, that car does not look rust free. Even the trunk area looks a little marginal…..it looks like a 32k 912 driver, which is a lot…...
