Is it the wrong color?
 

Is it the color Sepia Brown? Is it overpriced at $80-$90K? Is everyone waiting for Monterrey? Market finally slowing?

Not sure what the issue is, but would appreciate any constructive comments on why I had some very strong initial interest in my 72 coupe (see For Sale section) and now crickets. Generally I have a very good finger on the market but to be honest I am kind of lost here; I have seen much lesser cars go for strong $70's and $80's or rust buckets going for $30's and $40's...all non S cars.

I did not purposefully restore this car to flip, but to actually enjoy, but I started 3 years ago when prices were reasonable. The car has absolutely everything done right, so not too much I can see that I missed. Lastly, I do not want to get into the price escalation debate, but I am one of the owners who has lost some interest due to the price increases and I actually do not feel okay driving this car like I intended....

Any help would be appreciated!

I think only input from actual prospects will be useful. Lots of armchair generals and wanna-bees here.

As someone who is around 6-figure sales, I'd say the absent torsion cover, antenna and wheel caps do give it the appearance of being less than fully sorted. You and I understand that the rocker trim is easily reinstalled for someone looking for stock appearance. But some people cannot visualize. At all.

But please take all that with a grain of salt.

Given that TW is our resident '72 expert I would value his grain at a pound.

I won't proclaim to know the value of this car. But I've known the seller for a number of years and bought and sold with him. Sam's a straight shooter and if a potential buyer is reading this thread know that there is no smoke and mirrors with this guy.

What would be your first offer for it ?
You seem to know the values of other 911's pretty well.

I love the car and the color, but I think a combination of time of year and the market sadly being less about hot rods right now mean you're car is not getting the attention it deserves. I do think better photography, and setting it in an early fall palette would see a beautiful car presented in a setting that compliments it.

I do think I have a decent grasp on IB values. Longnoses are such an insanely dynamic market right now that it spins my head to even try to begin to figure them out. So, I defer to the experts, like TW, on such things and don't even begin to throw things out there. If it was a ratty barn find needing work I would have a rough idea. But when we reach the top end of the market and are looking at finished or near finished cars, I don't have a clue. And I don't pretend to at this point. SmileWavy

A COA would have been expected at this price range.

That's just another opinion.

I clicked on the link and jumped right back. For fk's sake, I couldn't read a story that long about an original 911R.

It's a beautiful car But..... It's too far from stock
I think it's better then stock but totally stock cars are what is selling today

they are not going to pull the real money

I get the immaculate condition -- and to the right buyer, it would be appreciated.

But it may be too stock (and too expensive) to suit a "driver" buyer, and too modded to suit a concours buyer.

If you intend on driving the car, do you want to pay a $20k premium for a rotisserie car where you can eat of the engine?

It is an exceptional tweener -- and maybe that explains why it has been slow to move.

This is why I really like this forum, honest feedback and not a lot of BS. I agree with the majority of the comments and will be taking the car off of the market and will be addressing the areas to make it back to stock and some other very minor areas and will re list in September.

I think sepia is an excellent color right now. That's not it.

But the longhood market is pretty crazy right now, and I don't think that a car that sits a little at the right price is underpriced. If it sits a long time at a particular price, then yes, it probably is overpriced.

Its because its not stock. Honestly I think your price will not work for anything other than a perfect original car. I also think buyers looking for hot rods are not looking for serpia.

I like it a lot.
