A tad optimistic.

Not sure if its overpriced. If it really is a perfect US Carrera with genuine 42k miles. Haven't some ones with needs sold for over 60k recently?

Knowing Kevin, the owner of GAS, I can say that he definitely has the caliber of clients that could own a genuine time capsule car. Whether this one is worth the asking price will be something for the market to decide.

Cool car, I'm in the process of purchasing a 75 Carrera a dozen or so units older than that one. Mine's heavily modified but it's cool to see what it should look like. I'd love to see more detailed pics!

I hate to start another 'overvalued/overpriced' discussion, but does anyone remember the 2006 run up in Real Estate? A price like this for a low mileage time capsule of the normal variety smells like a plastic bubble full of nitrogen in some millionaire's garage, doing nothing. The market has gotten to the point that anyone can ask almost anything, and someone, somewhere will justify the price.

I understand it's an open market, but do you guys really think there's value associated with some of these asking/taking prices? Would anyone here pay even close to that kind of money for that car? The irrationality of it all smells too familiar, while the sharks are offering up bait to anyone who's ever had an inkling for a nice 911.

I do not doubt Matt's knowledge and respect his opinion of GAS, but it seems to me this whole run up has started to not make sense.

And please don't try to educate me on Economics 101.

If the car is perfect yes I can see them getting the money. If I had the money I would be interested at taking a look.

US Carreras are now turning in semi blue chip collector cars. When a ROW model hits 300k this month the US model seems a bargain. I know it doesn't have the same engine but it is still eligible for the same classic events.

Thinking about it I would way rather have this car than a so so long hood.

I get the blue chip investment thing…not particularly happy about it, conceptually.
Maybe I'm just pissed off the everyone has discovered what I've known for 45 years.

I liked it better when we we're just a 'small' bunch of Porsche guys/girls, and not a commodity to be optioned and traded for short or long term opportunity.

With respect to the car being 'perfect', what about the spoiler? Was there an option to delete it from the factory or is it just missing? IMO, there isn't much that separates the 74 and 75 Carreras from the run of the mill mid year and the spoiler was one of the bigger elements. I don't remember ever hearing about a spoiler delete option, so if its just gone, to me, that definitely takes the car down a notch in terms of originality.

Totally agree. I sometimes read Octane magazine for example. Lately all its about is the same group of individuals at the same events. They are changing classic car enjoyment into an old boys club. Entry to join the club is based on buying an eligible car hence the explosion in values of cars before 1984/5. If all someone wants is an entry to an event all they care about is the eligibilty of the car not whether its a ROW or US Carrera IMHO. Next cut off point will be early (pre 1985) 3.2's as they can get into a lot of classic tours in Europe.

Can't remember the last time I say a longhood on the street being driven. Not so many IB's lately either.

Back then you could delete or add just about anything you wanted to a car, within reason. Roger Penske ordered a targa with 210hp mfi engine and Carrera RS rear flares. You see cars with all kinds of odd options. But only a COA will answer the actual question.

In '86 both sport and comfort seats were a no cost option. My car has a sport driver seat and a passenger comfort seat. It was ordered that way, along with Carrera script, rear wiper and head light squirters. This is a US car. And a '74 color to boot.

I entirely agree with NY Nice re: real estate bubble. Real assets with real and appreciating value underlay both, yet it feels like we are entering an era of values where logic has gone out the door.

they also came spoiler delete but many other detais separates the normal and the S from the Carrera namely production numbers (395 coupes for 75), alum suspension and flares to name a few. nothing run of the mill about a Carrera whether ROW or US.
