Another "it's worth the labor I have in it" pricing strategy

Ebay ad: 74 911

We can all dream we are the next Singer or Ruf I guess...

At the claimed labor hours I'd expect a bit more of a discount on the hourly rate he seems to have baked into his pricing.

Option a: It is a joke

Option b: The seller is retarded

The car is hardly worth 1/10 of what he hopes it is.

Edit. Ah, already been discussed here.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-marketplace-discussion/826072-1-4er-million-dollar-frankenporsche.html

He could mean 260.000 NOK. Roughly 1/7 of USD.

Never hurts to at least review all the threads on page 1 before starting a new one. ;)

Christian - just wanted to let you know that we rarely, if ever use the word 'retarded' in American speech anymore because it's offensive and an old word that needs to go away. Not to rag on your personally, but we don't use it here much. Just thought you should know. Not trying to be an a--hole though.

"Vehicle Title: Rebuilt, Rebuildable & Reconstructed"

Never saw this description before.

techweenie 08-22-2014 07:39 AM

Delusional.

However, I have a car for sale at a relatively high price and the work I put into it is part of the justification (as in 'you couldn't do it for this amount').

There is a limit. For this '74, I'm thinking market value is between $50 and 60K, assuming the quality of the work matches the claim.

Odd that the weight and power are 'estimates' as opposed to full measurement and documentation that would support a high valuation. Odd also that the reason for the 'rebuilt' title isn't revealed. Or discussed in the brief description.

You guys need to lay off this guy. I hope he gets every penny of his asking.

On a not related at all whatsoever note, I just bought a '74

hey, maybe his wife is making him sell the car.

i had a friend who's wife made him put one of his cars up for sale. he listed it on some website for way more than it was worth. every time she asked him why the car was still in the garage, he would pull up the ad to show that it was being advertised and there was just a very small market for this car. took her a couple of years to catch on..

Thanks Count. Did not know that. I am a bit slow :)

Yeah, we know. Must have taken 5 or 6 comments from me before you backed off on the homophobic slurs.

So true Matt, butt then again you Amish gear heads are very thin skinned SmileWavy

By the way do you know why Porsche says you have to put ATF in a manual 928 gearbox?

NYNick 08-23-2014 08:42 AM

Not for nuthin', as they say here in the Bronx, but it sure didn't stop The Black Eyed Peas from having a major hit.
(and who among you are surprised that I even know who The Black Eyes Peas ARE?)

Not thin skinned. Just zero tolerance for Eurotrash bigots. Figure your own 928 out...

And yes, that is a 996 Turbo front diff and driveshaft in the corner leaking gear oil onto the floor. :)
