Anybody in the NW know this 911SC?

Hi,

I'm looking at this 1980 911SC posted in Seattle CL. The current owner claims that the motor has been rebuilt, but he doesn't have any records for the car.

I'm pretty sure it has been on CL before. Does anybody have info about this 911?

Porsche 911 SC 1980

Thanks!

That's a really low price for an SC without a long list of "issues". Without records, the rebuild didn't happen. Well, it might have, but it's not a selling point without paperwork.

The pics look nice, but without more info, I can't say much more than I've already said.

He says there is no paperwork. I assume he knows who rebuilt it? If a shop, they might have a record. If the owner you have to decide if he seems both straight up and mechanically able. This is a car I would likely not even consider without a PPI.

Exactly right. With no paperwork, but otherwise stellar, that car is a mid-20s kind of ride.

Huh ?

It's offered at 17.5

To the OP, have you personally inspected the car ?

You really need to read the whole thread to get context for the comment.

Posting up a link to bargain priced 911 you're looking = throwing a piece of meat to a pack of wolves. For the same reason you don't take your attractive girlfriend to a club.

Better go buy it because Pelicans are blowing up his email as I type, and will buy it sight unseen.

RetrO,
Is the car in BC?
If so I remember it and spoke to the seller. I do recall a weird story about the rebuild. Built by a shop but off the books so no paperwork. Is it that car? Supposedly originally a US car so "easy" to repatriate, etc, etc.

While it might not mean anything, the license plate is not a B.C. plate. I can't see it clearly, but I don't think it's a WA plate, either.

Maybe its the same car but has been sold and registered down here and is for sale again. Though my memory is vague, I'm not sure the car in Victoria was silver.

Thanks for the comments. No, he didn't know who did the rebuild. Zero records.

Anyways, the seller says that he has a buyer for it. I was planning on heading down to see the car when I got the news. He said that he's had other people offer to buy it from him but never came up with the cash, so he'll let me know if the current buyer pulls out of the deal.
