A 68S value question

I just bought a 68S Targa that a dentist tracked in Riverside in '72. It has flares that he says where put on by that guys that did the IROC cars. I paid 60,000 for it. Did I overpay ?

Pictures? Mileage? Numbers matching? Records to back up claims?

mspirito 08-31-2014 06:19 PM

Depends on many factors

I don't think the 68 911S was offered in the U.S. So you may have a ROW car, or it isn't really an S. You'll need to post the VIN so one of the early 911 experts can decode it.

the 68S only ROW car the chassis number start for coupe 11800....or targa 11850 and engine would 4180....manuel sporto 4080.... if the car is decent shape 60kyou did well .pict help unique car and some parts are only 68 .Nice find rare car.

If you can drive it and it has the correct engine you did fine.

Why would you worry about the price if you already bought it? Just askin'

He wants to know if he got hosed up the 6-hole. The answer is no, he did not. People are paying $60k for early 911Ses that have been used as flower pots in someone's backyard for the last 40 years.

Flares put on by 'the guys that did the IROC cars'? The Porsche factory did the IROC cars.

Anyway, if softy and matching, you did fine. If not you 'bought too early.'

Nope. Not when cats are asking $440k for a '67S coupe.

FS: @classicdriver.com - 911 S 1967 - one owner. first paint! US $ 440.000

You can drop $100k in body work in it and still be OK.

Anyone can ask for that kind of money. All you need is someone willing to spend that kind of money. According to that thread others agree.
