Steve McQueen's 930 at Mecum..

I really wonder what this thing will go for.. My guess is probably $1.3 mil. His driver suit from that movie Le Mans sold for nearly $1 mil. Should be exciting to watch.

I think the price will be helped knowing the money is going to an academy for troubled youth. I'd feel better diggin deeper about that were I bidding.

I didn't realize the proceeds of the sale were going to a charity? If so, the price will be dramtically inflated since the purchase price can be deducted as a charitable contribution for tax purposes. (technically you can deduct the amount less the FMV of the car purchased)
This sale is likely to get alot of press as the highest price for a 930 at auction.......IMHO.
Regardless.....this will be an interesting auction to watch.

I doubt very much of the proceeds. The Mecum info ad on the car states :

" A portion of the proceeds will be donated to benefit The Boys Republic, a non-profit treatment community for troubled youngsters in Chino Hills, California"

Wonder what the portion is...

Oh my, is that Slate? Absolutely stunning color on that rear booster!

Cool story. One to read!

Love the tail light kill switch scheme. But I wonder if Chad crashed it when he lifted the foot of the gas in the corner?

I think you are correct. mike owns the car for < $150k...he may need to donate a portion just to reduce his capital gains taxes on the sale.

I thought I read somewhere that it is like 5% of the proceeds that go to charity. I could be wrong but that's the number in my head, because I was underwhelmed when I read that.
