Value of Targa Top

I have a spare top from an 87. Very nice condition but not perfect. Re-done by Dan P at Cars Inc. a few years ago.

Whats one of these worth ?

Thanks,

Any have a reasonable idea on what price these tops sell for?

Have you searched the used parts section yet? Probably the easiest thing to do to get a bead on the market.

Call Dan at Cars Inc, he usually has a few for sale.

He (Dan) has one on ebay now at $4000.

Mine was destroyed last year when it flew off at 65mph (forgot to latch, very bad mistake). Anyway, my Dan P. replacement cost the insurance company about $4.3k. It's pretty nice but doesn't fit perfectly. BTW, you can buy new from Porsche ... for $20k!!

I have a spare I would be willing to part with. Very nice condition, redone by Dan a couple of years ago with receipt.

Dang! I remember when you could buy a core for under $200 and get it redone for less than a grand by Dave Brown!

Those prices are bananas! If there was an volume to be done with those, someone in China would be churning them out faster than you can say "clone".

Amazing that I bought a mint, completely rebuilt one with a new top in the parts section 1 1/2 years ago - for $350. And he had it up there for 2 weeks with no takers, and we went back and forth for a week. Insane. It looks new. I knew it was a good deal but then again, it's a great deal.

Its nice having a spare and I haven’t listed it for sale. Yea if the market was liquid and the demand was there at $4500 or $5000 someone would be knocking them off.

I am intrigued by the composite and carbon fiber ones another board member is producing. He's starting work on the latrer latching system for 87 to 89 cars now.
