1991 - 964 Value - White / Black Targa 139.5K

Thinking about buying a friends 964. White/Black targa with 139.5 miles. CA car. He has owned it for 10 years. Serviced regularly and everything on the car works, with all problems fixed as they arose. Upgraded wheels and tires, exhaust, stereo as well as new targa top, oil lines, brake lines, flywheel, etc. The car does not leak, drives very well and handles great. He has a complete service history, books, keys, and even the original sticker for the car.

Overall condition is very good, paint is in good condition, interior has some wear on the seats but overall very nice without cracks. The car has a clean carfax report, but does look like the drivers door and threshold moldings were replaced by the PO. A custome center console was also added by the PO.

Thoughts on price. Obviously, a nice car with higher miles, records but one prior accident. Thanks.

Those mirrors are from '92 + as well.. Could've been done at the time of the door replacement.

Thanks for the replies. The mirrors were an upgrade by the current owner and were not part of the repair work. The car is a C2.

The owner has all receipts, including the repair work from the accident. I will dive into those and advise.

That car would sell in an instant if posted for $25k on Pelican.

If you can get it for that, great, but I'd say $27-30k is more on the mark for a well sorted manual C2. Dealers + Flippers would probably price it in the low-mid 30's.

Seat covers look either very worn or replacements. Not sure what's up with that center console either. Obviously will affect price but can't tell much from that picture.

More Information

Had a good look and another drive in the car. The car is very straight other than the drivers door is a little off when it closes. No sign of prior accident on any panels, door, hood, etc. PO thinks it may have been the rocker panel under the drivers side door that may have been replaced and thus the door needs to be adjusted. An initial inspection note makes mention of that too, otherwise, perfect history. CA car.

Overall, a very nice car. Exterior is a 9 out of 10. New roof, paint is very good. Does appear that the hood was the only body part repainted but it retains original factor stickers. If you look closely you can see some very minor rock pits that were covered so likely cosmetic. Rims are like new.

Interior is the only weak spot. Seats are weathered and need to be recovered. The original owner built a "unique" cover for the center console instrumentation. Dash is perfect, all gauges work, steering has minimal wear. Rear seats, parcel shelf, carpets are all in really good shape.

As mentioned, car has added strut brace, new rear lens, stereo / speakers with blue tooth, '93 mirrors, wheel spacers, performance chip and a sport exhaust.

It drives really tight and fast. It has been really well taken care of by the old owner who garaged it regularly. He averaged 3k miles per year for the last 10 years. All maintenance was performed and it only needs minor work to make it 100%. Owners manual, took kit, pump. Etc.

Even with the seats, door adjustment and center consul the car is probably worth $28K ish. Right? l like my 85 and not sure whether I will pick up this one or keep mine. I may end up selling this one for my friend as he is not a Pelicanite.
