Well thanks for the input guys. The car will go under the knife. Hopefully just the top end can be freshened up. If there are several "While we were in there's" all will be addressed. I just might rekindle the relationship again. If not I plan on having it on the market in January. I understand I won't recoup all rebuild costs but it's come this far, so I will finish it. Good decision. If the car is 95% what you want it to be, then consider what it will cost to get another one to that point.
BTW, I have repaired broken head studs, and I'm no master mechanic. You can do this job yourself. The only part I asked for 'outcall' help on was timing the cams. |
Where was the leak coming from? Leakdown will tell you where the issue is. Maybe something as "simple" as lapping a valve.
