Sell, sell, sell.

Well thanks for the input guys. The car will go under the knife. Hopefully just the top end can be freshened up. If there are several "While we were in there's" all will be addressed. I just might rekindle the relationship again. If not I plan on having it on the market in January. I understand I won't recoup all rebuild costs but it's come this far, so I will finish it. A few more pics

Good decision. If the car is 95% what you want it to be, then consider what it will cost to get another one to that point.

BTW, I have repaired broken head studs, and I'm no master mechanic. You can do this job yourself. The only part I asked for 'outcall' help on was timing the cams.

Where was the leak coming from? Leakdown will tell you where the issue is. Maybe something as "simple" as lapping a valve.

Modified and built my lysholm charged Corrado back in the day. Built up a 83 GTI for SCCA stuff. This was before three kids and being self-employed. I will wave the white flag on this one. This isn't a watercooled VW. Some beers a weekend and evenings in the garage aren't what they used to be. With it all sorted and the market the way it is, I might fetch a decent price. Or have a nice 911SC and figure out how to convince the wife.

Obvious air leaks at the base of the heads.

It sounds like head studs to me.

I'd be an interested buyer
