Daily Driven 993
 

I just sold my 95 993 and I'm in the process of buying a 97 993 C4S. I'm thinking of driving it daily, are there any daily driven 993's out there?

I'm sure there are some that are used daily but quite rare these days, mainly due to the recent upswing in prices. That said, I drive mine a few times per week but not daily. Why sell a 993 and then buy another??? Just curious.

I drive mine to work occasionally. I put about 5000 miles a year on my 993 but the rising prices make me more and more hesitant.

My neighbor drives his at least 5 times a week. He's a pilot and only flys about 10 days a month. He's looking at getting a 928 project car to fool around with in his spare time.

Thanks for the information. I sold my 95 due to the rapid rise in pricing and low mileage. I didn't really have the time to enjoy the car due to traveling, now that my schedule has changed I have the bug again and the time to enjoy something like that. Nice to know that there are folks out there still driving them daily and not sitting on them, viewing them as an investment.

I used to daily drive a 993 c2 daily... but sold it and traded up to a 993TT back a few years ago. I drive the 993TT as much as I can... couple of times a week on fun local roads. Not on long trips anymore though... don't want to pile on that type of mileage due to the price changes of the last two years and associated mileage penalty. I only know of one daily driver 993 in my area... and no older Porsche daily drivers any more around my area... the central california coast. (plenty of them in garages still though :-) ) Three of the guys in my P-car coffee group have bought 996 turbos within the past 6 months... for an average price between 40-42k... and use them as daily drivers though... At 1/3 to 1/4 the value of the 993 TT now... the 996 turbo's are fantastic daily drivers and probably will maintain that price point and or rise... even with miles.

Bought a 97 993 C4S earlier this year with the intention to daily drive it. Has 165km (102k miles). Arena red on black and has a high quality respray.

The rise in prices has made me rethink daily driving it. My work provides me a vehicle now so I will only drive my 993 occasionally.

DD a 996. Don't put too many miles on your 993 or you'll take a big hit on its value. If you had a <10k mile car, and put 50k on it, you'll lose more than a dollar per mile.

I bet the next owner will love you for being too cheap to drive your wonderfull car. Ask yourself this, what is value in life?

I worried about putting the miles on my '95 993. I just decided that I'm going to enjoy it and not worry about what I sell it for.

this is absurd, don't drive a 993 cause it will depreciate, unless its a museum quality car with a history to it than buy it and drive it. silly question and responses

There are some who think daily driving promotes the 'secondary air problem.' Experts vary. You might check with the person you have work on your car for their view.

The fallacy in thinking of a lot of Porsche owners is that they believe their cars are investments which ought to appreciate over time.

The reality is that most other hobbies (e.g. golf or sailing) or toys (boats, planes) are money pits that are enjoyed for their own sake, not with the expectation that they will produce a net positive income.

Myself, I don't drive mine in the winter purely because I want to avoid mechanical deterioration from salt and corrosion. I don't expect mine to be worth more at the end of my ownership than at the beginning.
