14 may be a little steep, but with car prices going crazy, parts are sure to follow.
How much is a 70E worth without an E engine?
How much with non matching but correct type engine?

Makes my friend's 69E engine for $6900 seem a screaming deal!

Guess it's time to get my '70E motor out this spring to fund the new project.

Guys, I remember around 25 years ago when a 356 4-Cam core motor cost $5K. People thought this was insane. What are they worth now? $50K? I don't even know. This guy is just ahead of the market - maybe by 20 years.

The seller is a big time Porsche dismantler. It may be a stretch price, but he should know what some may pay in the current marketplace - and it's free marketing. I didn't know of his business before this.

We sold on in 2007 for $80k. It was in pieces and was immediately shipped to Bill Doyle for assembly upon sale. It had been in a BMW motorcycle but was bring put back into a 904.

There you go. I not saying an E long block is worth whatever...but who knows?

Hey Matt, do you have any photos of that engine in a motorcycle? My mind is trying to piece this together.

Matt Monson 11-18-2014 10:20 AM

I don't have a picture. The bike was complete when I started at Carquip, and we had torn it out, took it apart for inspection, and sold it before I left. I never thought to take a picture of it.

Found a similar bike with GIS. This one has a 356 engine in it, which is what we did to Tom's bike after we removed the 4-cam. For all I know, it may be the same bike.
