87 CARRERA Opinion

I apologize if this car has already been vetted on the forum, I did a search and couldn't find it but am new here.

I'm going to be in the Bay Area Thxgiving week and was planning on emailing this guy. Immediately, I know this is too high of an asking price, but this looks like a solid car.
1 Owner, 24k miles but $54k asking price is a bit daunting? I am assuming he is targeting Euro buyers. I wouldn't mind keeping this one in the States, but not at that price.

****1987 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 1 OWNER 24K ORIGINAL MILES****

Any commentary would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

I am not fully up to speed on this market, but that strikes me as a dealer-ish price for that car. Don't know if you saw the '87 listed on this forum from Pedigree Motors, but that car with higher mileage looked like a better value to me with original window sticker and no mods at all from new. That car was listed at just under $45K and if I were ready to buy right now, I would have a hard time passing it up.

One thing about this car that I would want to follow up on is the position of Carrera badge on the decklid is all wrong. Maybe I'm the cynical sort, but that sort of thing makes me think that paintwork in the past is likely. It's such an easy detail to get right, so why not get it right?

Them's my two cents.

Wow Bauch, great eye! I just looked at pics at other 87's and you are right, this does seem to sit lower. Hmmmmmmmm.

I'm going to say that the price is right(ish), but the car may not be.

What no tail, no spoiler, not OE rims, wrong shifter boot, no separate tweeter in doors, plain Jane red with black color, is it full leather, wonder if that's the real mileage or the typical odometer gear disintegrated.

True. Please remember that this is still a bargain in today's dollars vs. what they originally cost. If the car is like new, it's a bargain.

I guess the dealer isn't considering himself the 2nd owner. That is if he's really a dealer and not a flipper.

At that price you have your choice of the finest cars in the 87-89 G50 market. (if that's what you're after)

Join your local PCA chapter, make some friends and you will find a nice car for less money and not have to deal with those 1970 Chevelle Cragar wheels. Barf.

Gentlemen I'm a Canuck so go easy on me. I just sold an 84 targa to a guy in Holland for $24K. An 87 Targa in Canada 24K miles is worth $45K cdn all day long. In Europe that car would be $50K euro about $75-80K cdn.

Hang on to the car. That's from a guy in the great white north

Assuming the mileage is correct and the condition matches, a $45k car.

There are lots of people who dont like the spoilers, they were optional anyway. The rims look OEM just polished 16x 6&7. The boot looks the same as in my last couple G50's.

The price sounds a bit high but I have seen other low miles G50's sell in that range recently.

I'm one of them.

I don't like the tea trays. They disrupt the lines of the coupe and were an addon to the original timeless design.
