A year ago, with the deferred maintenance this car would have been a $50k ask.

Yup, the bottom is behind us and the prices are rising. I'm back from a 2 week vacation, so I stepped into the garage, fired up the white car and took it for a 2 hour spin. What a machine!!!! GT3's are crazy fun!

Happy New Year all!

Have not been seeing many 6-3's up for grabs lately. Are they now buy and hold cars? I've seen 2 or 3 for sale on Rennlist over the past 2 months, and a cross post here on the bird. What are you guys seeing out there?

Gt3 996 will going up! It is mezger engine car - means last racing engine. I believe that it will reach 100T$ within next 5 years for 20-30 k mils cars. Here in Europe is difficult to find below 50T$ and last weeks was some transaction on 60-65t$ level.

So I'm curious if you guys see the 6-3 market accelerating at present? It appears there are far fewer 04/05 GT3's for sale at present, at least here in the US. The European market is white hot for these cars right now. Thoughts?

Always seemed to be continuously 10-15 996 GT3s for sale of various mileage, condition, up until the last couple months. Now, seems like only half that number.

Yes, inventory is shrinking to be sure. Rennlist is the place for these, and there are def less for sale. I think there may only be 1 for sale there at this time.

Market is hot for these. Crazy ask's for some very low miles original examples.

Bagain? When compared to the ancestors maybe.

A decent example here in the EU is about 75K Euros.

But then again I dont have keys enough on my keyboard to write the prices of the 993RS, 964RS and 3.2 CS. So I sort of get your point.

When I started this thread in Dec 2014, the prices had bottomed and were rising, so a bargain then, although a year earlier was likely a bit better. Now, 8 months later, the market has stepped up and taken notice of these incredible machines. I won't be surprised if they reach mythical status, sometime in the future, just like the 73 RS is now and the 964 RS cars have just about become. This is the last of the breed out of Porsche, with all the driving thrills and none of the electronic "save my ass" wizardry Porsche and others has been forced into building.

This is the last true "Porsche Supercar" that relies purely on driver input and skill. It's all on you. What a machine!

Its funny how most of what you said slides from generation to generation of 911. They are all somehow 'the last of the breed', and yet the model continues to soldier on and be desirable. I love the 996 GT3 but have a hard time seeing them as equal in value to a 997 counterpart.

Good solid examples of the 6-3 are now selling very close to similar 997.1 versions. Hard to believe, but true. You can find very nice 997.1 GT3's for mid to high $70's now. Equivalent 6-3's are selling for low to mid $70's and the gap is closing. They are quite different from one another in terms of rawness vs refinement, and agility vs speed, but in the end, time tell's the story. The valuable classic's always lean to the raw, light, stripped versions over the more comfortable ones..Of course this and a buck fifty will buy you a cup of coffee somewhere. All conjecture based on a few data points.......YMMV :-)

In time the 996 GT3 will be worth far more then the 997(my opinion). Especially the 997.1 which is the least desirable.

i said 5-6 years ago that 6gt3 will hike in prices. i bought several back then to track, all sub 10000 mile cars at <$60k.

today, sub 10k mile cars are easily $90USD. and hard to find.

price vs 997 GT? well 997GT3 has many types
all 7RS are still more $$ than 6gt
7.2GT are slightly more than 6gt, everything being equal
7.1GT are at parity more or less with 6gt3.

what will happen next, no clue.

Mooty, as usual, your analysis seems "spot on"! Great to see you posting on this board. For those that don't know Mooty, he is a consistent contributor on the Rennlist board on all things GT3. VERY Knowledgable cat with many many data points. Hope all is well Mooty!
