Has this one been covered here yet? Not sure of the asking price but what a stunning car. I came thisclose to talking my dad into buying a new 911S that year in the same colors. It was on the showroom floor at the local dealer and I spotted it...what a beautiful car. :cool:

I would have to say that that is one of the best write-ups on any 911 or Turbo that I have read recently. The auction houses should take note from Bill Noon on this one, as it is very well written and gives a nice documented history.

You know when Symbolic has it it's not going to be cheap anyway.

Symbolic ain't cheap but at least he seems to deal in really quality merchandise. With the market going nuts, it really brings out the counterfeiters and flim-flam MFers...some of them hiding behind fake respectability. I think he has standards about what he'll peddle and he knows cars. My .02.

When an overpriced Porsche collector car dealer is buying a car with over 200,000 miles on it from another overpriced collector car dealer, and presenting it as a pristine example for $200k, when the car was worth maybe $30k 3 years ago, then you know that the market is overheated.This is stupid money for this car.
As someone asked above, "So what is a 40k original miles 76 Turbo worth"? Based upon Billy's pricing at Symbolic, I would venture $400k. Yeah, right... ;)

EC had 3 930's, all fairly reasonably priced and now all sold. The fact the 930 used to be cheap is not necessarily strong evidence that they are over priced today. 930's have been overlooked and bashed by Porsche guys almost forever - so now that they have gained attention in the collector car market place everyone's screaming they way are over priced. I've seem plenty of high mileage restored 911's selling for big money not sure why it should be any different for 930's.

So Phil, are you saying that this 930 Turbo is fairly priced, or even underpriced? Even if pristine 3.0 Turbo cars were trading at $200k, and until last week they weren't, this 930 car, with 204,000 hard driven miles (they were all hard driven - no one bought a turbo just to go for a leisurely weekend drive in the wine country), is no collector gem. Besides being a high miles car, it has been restored. Furthermore, the color is not desirable either. There is big difference between a dealer's aggressive pricing and wishful thinking. And this certainly looks to be the later...
You don't have to look far (just go to the Pelican Classified's) to find more original examples with less than half the miles, in a more desirable color, and for less than half the price.

I am making no claims about what any particular 930 is worth- if someone steps up and writes a check for the 76 at Symbolic it was worth it at least to someone. All I can say is market for 930's has moved a lot in a very short period of time, what looked expensive 2-3 months ago looks cheap today. At some point the rapid appreciation will stop but pristine 3.0 turbo's are trading way beyond $200k and they have been for while, Canepa has one for sale for $385k. Decent driver 76-77 are 130-150k right now, the 78-79 are quite a bit cheaper.
