Every Girl's Crazy 'Bout A Sharp Dressed Man!
Wonder what ol' Frank did to this car to send it to the shop?

Who the h is Frank Beard? Just kidding.
Anyways now looking at this car in all its '80s glory, it's no wonder why '89 is an end of an era for this style Porsche and why they stopped making them, and why only 58 were made. But back in '89 this disco sled was serious $$$. An '80s rock star car for sure. |
I never understood the rocker boxes.
|
How long ago was it wrecked? How long did it sit around? I am guessing its a salvage title.
|
Even though I am a child of the 70 and 80's I will never get the slant, That front and those ducts in the flares. It is just a mess....who designed it anyway?
|
The Slant nose option was a $22K option Not $30k. Still a lot of money for a look.
|
I think that's a nice car.
An acquired taste to be sure, but why all the slant hate? Guess if it's not a "backdate" it ain't cool. MattR http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1419133499.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1419133525.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1419133620.jpg |
Loved them then (as a teenager) and still love them now. I have an aunt with a triple white '87 slant nose cabriolet. I'm hoping I'm her favorite nephew since her daughters have no interest in cars.
|
I think they are good looking cars, clearly from the same era as the other 80:ies sports cars. Would I like to own one? Sure! But not for being a 911, since the original head lights are too much of the 911's charachter. And in my mind there are too much Ferrari 328 and Testarossa in this design. Not that these are ugly cars, quite the opposite, but an original 930 have a unique look that no other car is even close to resemble. Why change it?
The slant nose concept have also suffered severely from all the cheap, poorly made copies. Johan |

Matt- I sold a triple white car to Al Copeland from Popeye's Chicken in New Orleans- was he the original owner of your aunt's car by chance ? |
I just looked up a picture of the car. I was confused. Her '87 targa is the triple white one. The slant nose is a light metallic blue.
The cars originally belonged to my aunt's life partner's father. I don't know his name but he was quite a collector with about half a dozen 911s, as well as some Mustangs, and older 40s and 50s American cars. Most of the cars have been sold. |
Hi
Sad look....it's like a after thought, oh we have a 911, now let's see if we can add a bunch of crap to sell more to the Disco Lovers.

Opinions are like a...
The 935 was the inspiration. It's not a direct copy of the look. Plus there were about half a dozen different renditions of the 935 from the 935/76 up to and beyond the K3s. However, I always will prefer the 934's look to that of the 935s. |
If you stand in frt of a slant and look at it you'll get it
If you take the fenders off any 911 you'll know how they got there it was all done for aero |
It absolutely cracks me up every time I read about people absolutely hating one version of a car or another from the same maker.
Here is great link to the M505 thread. Great history and photos including from the factory. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/447083-slantnose-slant-nose-slope-m505-factory-930s-documents-registry-ultimate-flachbau.html MattR |
