Curious, do you happen to have the serial number range for the "desirable" magnesium case tranny?

You want a 915/02 or 915/06 if you are trying to be correct. But with a mismatched engine don't bother. Aluminum case 915s from '78-86 are far more robust and easier to find. You will need fine spline cvs but they can be found.

Just remember all 915s are cores unless you see reciepts for work. Expect $1000-1500 for a core or $2500-4000 for a nice one like Bill's.

I just finished advertising my 2 SUV's. The Porsches will be next.

The prices have gone up 1.5-2x for the right 74's. Depending on those pictures, yours may be worth around what you joked selling the car for 2 years ago.

Thanks for your market feedback. I should probably start looking at the 911 market tomorrow and go from there. Hopefully others will chime in too. As I said, I just need something that will be fair to both me and the buyer.

The value of projects hasn't really moved in lock step with running driving cars. This car isn't worth much more than the numbers we were talking about when this thread was new. If you can get $20k for it you did well.

with all due respect to tech I think you have a 69 E motor as you stated the it had a 4R case and that motor serial number fits a 69 E

Yes, it is a 69 E case number. It's also a 79 SC case number, but the 4R cinches it as the earlier engine.

There could be a 69E out there somewhere needing reunion with its original engine. There's a place on the web where reunions are arranged, should you decide to go that way.

No, 4R means 69. And CIS didn't come out until 73.5

What's the type number? That will put this to rest.

Where would the type number be? I will take pics hopefully soon -- selling the 2 SUV's has been my priority.

BTW, the engine came with CIS.

The type number is stamped on the horizontal section of the case a couple inches from where the serial number is stamped on the vertical.

My 74 with 3.2 swap is also CIS. It appears they used the original 74 CIS with the replacement engine. Your car may be the same.
