2 911's stored for 20 years what do you think they are worth
I am looking at 2 911's one is a mid year S sunroof coupe the other an SC sunroof coupe. I have not bought them yet, but am in semi-quasi negotiations at the moment so don't want to disclose to much yet. Been trying on these for awhile and finally there has been some desire on owners part to move forward
Cars are both in a covered but not enclosed area, were running in 2003 supposedly but not on the road since at least 1998. Both are uncovered and on jackstands and both are showing low hundred thousand miles. Tough to make an assessment thru the years of buildup, as I don't know which way I will go if I get them. I am wondering if I should leave all the dust and cobwebs for the "barnfind" crowd if I decide to sell or try and clean them up and see what is needed and either keep/sell SC is wearing old P7 tires that have lots of tread but sidewalls are rotted sitting on fuchs 6 & 7 x 16, paint will at the least need to be done on the bumper and hood. underneath seems solid with some oil leaks that look old. Car seems to be all there and in stock condition, interior is good condition, sheepskins and untorn but stiffish leather underneath, nice carpet and mats. not the best of colors inside or out but a seemingly straight original car, doors shut with that perfect sound and gaps are all excellent. AC belt is still connected so assuming it was working when it ran last a plus I guess, maybe not anymore! the mid year has good color combo although having had a repaint. Right front looks to have been in some type of accident with some wrinkled metal under the hood. wearing a bra at the moment and anodized 15x6 fuchs with old BFG tires but holding air, nice interior with sheepskins also but driver seat needs to be redone, aftermarket wheel and stereo. overall appearance presents nicely, the dust could be hiding a lot though, showing good gaps and underneath looks solid with bilstein sports. If I were to pick one to keep this would be the one. I have not even tried to hook power up yet, as a matter of fact I have not even sat in them. Just crawled around inside, outside and underneath. I do not want to seem like I am taking advantage of the widow so trying to give her a fair amount. That being said there could be a lot of work involved getting them back on the road and dollars spent on parts and servicing. I am thinking at minimum brake and fuel systems will have to be sorted. She has some other cars available as well, muscle cars really but those are just buried and no way to make an assessment without spending a day digging them out from the garage so you can see what is there. I know that is not much specific info but would like to hear some thoughts teaser pic of mid year engine compartment

Help the widow out and give her 30K for the package deal, sell them to Europe for 30K or more and take advantage of the widow in some other way!
Win, win!? |

Hey Flyn
There's a certain amount of "moral" thinking as Christiandk are saying but on the other hand there is a deal to be had and you're the one that makes the ultimate decision. I found an 81 sc in a field in eastern Ontario. It was an estate deal and the broker of the estate had no idea what the car was or better yet what it was worth. Long story short I bought the car $7K cdn. I brought it home cleaned it up and it runs like a charm. I was lucky with horseshoes in my butt. Point being I'd offer no more than $10K each and see what they say ? The worst they can say is no. Yes I know it may be insulting but you can claim you don't know how much it is going to cost you to get them running etc etc. Start there. If she agrees on that price take her put for a nice dinner and some flowers and a bottle of wine and have a giggle when you get home John (Dumbass Canuck) |

Sounds like a fun adventure, I think you have to try and get your hands on these cars so they can get back out into the driving world to be enjoyed. Good luck and keep us posted!

I got a great buy on 2 911's this year. They had been sitting for 20 yrs. I'm super happy because I got a 68s. Buuuut .... My mechanic has worked in the cars for 2 months. Lots of mechanical risk in these cars. 20k$ max. Less is better. I paid 50k for a 76s and 68s.
I actually paid 60 and also got a RollsRoyce but I didnt included because it's a porsche topic. |

These are the kinds of things where I ride the line. I think that they should be brought out into the world and enjoyed. I think that the buyer needs to see a fair profit for the time, effort and risk. What's fair? I don't know. It depends on how much effort is spent to bring them to market. Clean them up, get them running well, refresh the parts that need refreshing? That's a mini restoration, and that means that if the car as sold as a turnkey driver, the buyer should pay and ask whatever he can because this is a value-added deal. If the cars or bought to be immediately flipped without any input, then the margin should be smaller, IMO. $25-30k offer for both, $35-40 flip.

For God's sake offer her $25 and tow the cars away.
Worry later.

Is the SC Mocha Brown? Hard to tell in the pics. You mentioned "not the best of colors", but Mocha has somewhat of a cult following. It's an interesting and unique color. Can look great if done correctly (I can send you pics of my old Mocha if you need inspiration). Otherwise, good luck... looks like fun!
