Your thoughts on the value of an 86 Targa?
A family member wants me to acquire her 1986 3.2 Targa rather than sell it outright, but we have to agree on a value. I have looked at the Haggerty valuation tool and at the NADA classic car book, but I haven't looked at any ads at all so I don't really have a feel for the car's value. Car is GP white with very good original paint. A scrape low on a rocker, and winkles on both front and rear valances, but unless you are down on your hands and knees it looks really nice. Mileage is approx. 160,000 with no major engine work ever. No oil leaks or smoke at all. Last year of the 915 transmission and it was rebuilt about 50,000 miles ago. It still shifts well. AC is still running R12 and cools as well as a factory system can. Interior is excellent. Almost new aftermarket stereo. Wheel are aftermarket 16" Euromeisters with new Continental DW tires. Targa top has a couple of small punctures and makes a whole lot of wind noise when you're driving, so it needs to be sent off to one of the Targa Top Whisperers and redone. Anyway, that a brief summary. I'd love to hear your thoughts on its value.

Thanks, Patrick. I must have used the Haggerty tool wrong because that's not the number that I came up with. I'll look at it again. This is one of those situations where I certainly wasn't looking to acquire another Porsche, but everybody concerned would like the car to stay in the family. Next time I'm over there, I'll snap some pictures.
