Sportmatic trans on 73 911T Targa

This is my first post to the Forum. Being a 66 year old Porsche "virgin", I have several questions to ask assistance on. I own a 73 911T Targa which I bought and drove for a short while about 10 years ago. It has been a "garage queen" ever sincel I began restoring it this winter. The usual rust issues resulted in my replacing the suspension pan, left lateral support and gas tank support. This forum was a godsent in completing, which for an amateur, was a major project. My 911 is a bit of an orphan in that it has a Sportmatic transmission. I wonder if anybody has some thoughts if this transmission will add or subtract from the value of the car. I will be putting the car on the market following it's final restoration but have to start to plan now if a transmission swap is in order, especially since this will have to be done by a professional.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

My opinion. If a concours restoration and the sportomatic is original to the car, keep it in the car. If a driver level restoration, install a std 5-speed but keep the original sportomatic tucked away safe.

Don't ruin a numbers matching sporto car with a transmission co version. You will reduce the value of your car by 10-20%.

Thanks guys. This is a driver level restoration with a view to a quick sell so there is a balanced concern about additional investments such as a transmission swap versus making the car more desirable. Your input has given me a lot to think about.

thanks again

Original 73T?
The more original, the better.
Not everyone will want it, but those that do will pay for it.
