I simply got great deal on this 912 and couldn't pass on it.
already have 911s, just never had a long hood and never had a chance to drive a swb 911/912.

Why buy a 912 when it will always be a lesser car than the 911 ?

Might as well buy a VW and start saving up for a 911.

Put it together as a 912 and go for a drive. SWB cars are their own special reward.

Thanks for the ad hominem attack.

We are still talking about p-cars, right ?

Not really. We're talking about your foolish opinion.

The longhood 912 is a good car. It has that Porsche feel, and the smell, and the look. It doesn't go quite as fast when you push the long pedal on the left, but it scoots around corners better than its quicker brothers. It feels more balanced because it is.

They are fun cars, and still affordable from a longhood standpoint. The fact that they have four cylinders rather than six doesn't really subtract from the fun.

BTW, go drive a 356 sometime. Those cars are fun, too.

Absolutely. The 912 is a great car. Fun to drive, and all the joy of a longhood, without the stratospheric pricing. Fix the four-cylinder, and make it go. You'll not be sorry.

Interesting. On both my 911 and my 912 when I push the long pedal on the left I lose all drive to the wheels and can't seem to make the car go fast.

He may be referring to the rare left foot drive long hood. I can't remember the last time I saw one. :)

It's a rare prototype. There's a guy on ebay selling one for a grillion dollars.

Is that the RHD Australian car I saw written up in Excellence a few years back? They said something about reversing the pedals because the engine spins the opposite direction.

Matt, regardless of pedal placement, 912 and fast are mutually exclusive terms (aka - an oxymoron)!

I didn't buy it as my go fast car. My 997 Supercup is for that. ;)

Oh, schitt. [facepalm]

Yes, the long pedal on the right.

LOL.
