84 911 Targa
If your willing I could use advice about pricing my car. Original color blue, paint above average, mechanicals above average, approx. 135,000 miles. Original engine doesn't burn oil but I don't drive it hard. Not been tracked. Front seats recovered in matching blue leather. Interior average condition. Transmission rebuilt at about 100,000 miles. Targa top recovered. Any help would be appreciated.

1984 Targa Carrera
Hello
I sold my 1984 Carrera Targa just like your for $24K cdn last summer. At the time I thought it was a good market value for the car but your car appears in excellent shape. Mine was light grey and while it was mechanically sound it had some paint issues. It went overseas to Holland where it is now worth about 40Keuros or close to $60K us I agree with other guys $25-$28K US is about right Good luck. Nice car. Should sell quickly in this market. John |

I'll be the optimist of the bunch. Mid-miles, desirable color, trans rebuild, enthusiast owner, sorted & clean - I'd list it around $31k and see what offers come in.
$25k for that targa is a "I want to sell it within the hour" price. IMO |

Slate Blue Metallic is a fantastic color that looks even better in real life. My 84 Targa was slate blue metallic over blue interior. Sold it with 92,000 miles seven years ago for $14,000........ouch.....
Start it high unless you need to move it quickly. My guess is it should sell easily in the high twenties. |

I've said this before, when someone asks me what's it worth I answer with a selling price. I believe in asking about 20% over my expected selling price. So a car I think would sell at $25 or $26 I would list at $30k. This car is no different.
