This is going to be interesting. Someone put a real market value on this car and them we can determine the value add of Mr. Walker's influence.

Pretty good return on investment for 5 years. At the current bid of 86 grand its north of a 70% ROI.

I'm never afraid to share my opinion on value.
At $86K, it is currently at 'vanilla' 68 911 value in restored-to-nice-driver condition. Deduct $10K for non matching engine. Modifications are subtle but extensive and without the Magnus Walker imprimatur, likely +/- $5K for a range of buyers. IOW, I think current bidding already reflects the Urban Outlaw "bump."

So, 5 years ago, if you bought this car, a '73 914 2.0l, a 1983 911sc and a 2010 Ford Focus, what would your average gain be?

Good Point.. the NDX is probably up more but how much fun can you have driving a futures contract or ETF shares?

I bet the bidding will suffer a bit with those payment terms... wire transfer of all funds and car delivered at later date from Mexico to you in United States.

How bout I show up at the boarder. You bring the car into the states and show me the US title and then we go to a local bank where I have the money waiting?

Yeah that and the photos are pirated from the original ad here with Ca plates. Man my redflagometer is humming. Wiring 90K with no touchy feely see is not going to keep my blood pressure within specs.

And Magnus Walker adds value because????? Hey, I just paid double for a Magnus car. A Magnus what????
Amazing how advertising can add value to a product. Well done. Kind of like Toyota's run forever and Volvo is the safest car. Not one page of documentation ever produced to back those claims but people with 50k on the odometer will answer those JD surveys as if they just found a miracle product. Say it enough and people believe it. It is a nice car though. |

I hope Fernando sells the car at a high price, plus like he says, theres no problem with the transaction, if you look at his record, which is clean, as a seller.
I think its a great car, but i bought the best of them all, the ST, my opinion ! so what is it worth, 200 K |

Apart from the notoriety, when his garage builds a car they appear to go down to every last fastener. You are not going to get a concours car, but you ARE going to get a car that is in "like new" condition in every respect: wiring, all rubber, engine, transmission, bare metal, interior out, repaint. Of course, this one is now 5 years old! Is a Leno car worth a premium? Probably -- apart from the notoriety, it also comes with provenance of a collection that is well maintained. I'm not saying a Magnus Walker car is worth double a comparable, but it also isn't just some random rest-mod of dubious quality -- so what is a comparable? Personally, I am glad that outlaws are still a major part of the market. It is going to be sad when the market is driven by Pebble Beach trailer queens.

I agree with Colb. While Magnus no doubt gets wholesale pricing on a lot of things, including labor, if joe on the street paid to have that engine and gearbox built he would pay $25k and $10k, respectively. The whole car is like that. Magnus does full mechanical restorations.
