Are all Weber 46 made in Italy?
Hey Pelicans,
Like a lot of you I'm slighty blown away by the prices of the quirky old cars we play with. I was just told that the old Weber 46s I've got lying around sittign on top of an old hot rod build have gone up quite a bit in value. ...not for sale but I'm curious of the value. It seems that that the are worth 5-10K... Sheesh. Were they all made in Italy or were some made elsewhere like the 40s? Thanks, JZ

The last two sets that i saw were listed for $10,500. i don't know if they sold for that much let alone if they did sell at all.
More than I'm willing to spend on carbs. |

Some of the 46 were built by carter in US - they don't have made in Italy cast in carb body. The weber's have historic value but the PMO's are a better carb. The 46 IDA prices are all over the place any where from $5k- 10k+.

Part of the big pricing you are seeing is likely related to the combination of vintage Italian Webers with the original tall magnesium intake manifolds. There are some variations in the 46IDAs made in Italy, I'm told... I have a pair for sale and I've been told they are more desirable to at least one buyer if they are "4 port" versions rather than "3 port." I have not researched the difference yet.

...yeah for the money these are commanding I may have to list mine too. I guess I'll check the numbers and figure out what I really have.
I've been sitting on an old 2.8, twin plug build with some cool vintage parts just waiting to find the right time and right car to build. Well, at the current prices of the early cars I can no longer really justify that plan. I keep thinking maybe I'll find one but... The value of the Weber 46 and Marelli twin plug ignition I have would have bought a whole car not that long ago. Oh well, not going to list anything yet. Heck, maybe I will build up a 914-6 hot rod instead.
