prices

I can not get over the pices that I see ; $100,000. RSA, $81,000. for an 1988 Carrera, $200 plus for a 1989 A Speedster, Are any of these cars selling at t6hese prices.

I bought a 1993 RS America in Nov 2013 with under 36,999 miles. excellent condition for just over $49,000 and I thought I was paying to much. Are people payinh these prices. It is one thing to ask but is anyone buying?

I can noy afford a $100,000. third car. I am I the only one with this problem?

Simple answer for a simple question.

Yes. You are the only one without the discretionary income to afford a $100,000 3rd car.

The plight of the banker is mighty, but don't despair, the banker will have his day in this capitalist economy yet.

Blame the fed, they flooded market with almost worthless paper. Price a whopper lately? Over $6 for a hamburger after taxes, better part of a ten with fries and a drink.

That's an interesting item to cherry pick when CPI has been under 2% for four out of the last five years.

How do you believe Federal Reserve policy is specifically targeting Whopper and vintage Porsche pricing?

You don't really believe what the government says about unemployment & consumer prices, do you ? Talking about people who cherry pick.

The whopper was a example I used because of a recent purchase, if you need more, go shopping.

OR, you can believe what the government says.

Don't understand your post.

if you bought a 93 RSA with ~37k miles for $49k in late 2013, you stole it.

And assuming you didn't sell it, you already own a $100k car.

Unless you live in a theme park, I don't know where you are paying $10 for a Whopper.

It is under $7 in my very expensive neck of the woods.

Consumer inflation is not particularly high.

The Fed's monetary policy probably has had a big influence on the overall collector car market, but not that much on consumer prices.

The 2012-2013 drought in Texas is still seriously affecting beef prices, and will for the next 12 months or so.

All very simple. The wealthy have shifted from art, gold, ect and started to spend some of that money on collector cars. These are not the same collectors that buy muscle cars. They many also have several other European sports cars. This started 10 years ago when vintage ferrari were first accepted as fine art.

That's a big part of it. If it stays that way for the above stated reason that would really stink for the enthusiast/hobby guys who just want to buy, fix-up and tinker with older sports cars. Yes, old MGs are still affordable but not all of us want an old MG.

I'm glad I bought my frist air cooled 911 when I did (2002), It was nice enjoying them as a regular, old car and not part of an investment portfolio.

I'd like to read your peer reviewed study on perishable goods pricing, the Federal Reserve, and how it's influencing the values of used luxury goods and collectibles.

Aw jeez. The US has the strongest economy in the world right now. Why some people resent/resist/deny it is beyond me. Too much Fox?

But to the OP's point: yes, there are people paying that much and more. The 'quiet' collector-to-collector sales are almost always far higher than what we see talked about. My friend who got $308K for a Euro 75 Carrera may not be the record holder in that category.

I've increased my Whopper portfolio five-fold since this morning.

Too much fox, nah I don't really watch the news. I do visit with business people, friends of mine and friends of theirs, small business owners and most say the same thing. Not great as the main stream media portrays.

Nothing, it will have to much patina by then, that would be the green stuff growing on it.

For those who care to tinker with inexpensive cars, don't despair. There are PLENTY of fun cars out there, currently ignored and undervalued. They just don't happen to be Porsches however, and P-Cars have always been relatively expensive to buy and own. Always.

Insofar as the government and the economy, let me say this: when I have to increase what I pay my employees because the government says so, there's something wrong. Who do you think will be picking up that tab? You guys will, for every Whopper you buy.
