Over $5000 in service in the last 24 months (6000 mi). No hardtop, but softop with glass window replaced last year. All records for the last 12 years, with 10 of them at the dealership. Going to have it looked over by a shop and then I think I'll be booking a flight.

Stop by on the way back and show me the ride and I'll buy ya a beer. I'm right off of 80 at Auburn. I can even put you up for the night if you let me drive it!!!!

If I go that way I will let you know. This time of year I am partial to going over the pass in Yosemite and heading down the Extraterrestrail Highway from Benton down to Vegas. And the car is near San Jose, so I will be likely be heading 580 through Modesto and Sonora.

Report: Son and I took for extended drive… he is struggling with first gear but he will get it. Hear a rattle will run it over to the mechs for a brief look see. Car has got more power than I anticipated……

Matt if you buy we should do a long term cost comparison......

Update......

I get the draw to the classic air-cooled car they have a persona...... no doubt. With that being said I need to update on the Boxster....... Damn what a car.

This is a base model car with the 2.5L motor. My son was unable to master the clutch so we have swapped and I have got to give this car its props. While it can not carry more than two, luggage capabilities are nil and no cup holder; the car is one helluva performance commuter. 23MPG is not great but given the performance not dreadful. The performance on the other hand is excellent. AC works and is strong. I can not wait to install the hard top to see the reduction in road noise.

The current market for this car appears to be plentiful between $8,500 and $10,000. Considering the entry cost into the air-cooled market is $30,000, these cars are a great starting point for a first Porsche or for a single suburban commuter.

Agreed. I have not given up my interest in one, just been distracted by my 74 coupe purchase. When I list my 912 it will be with a wtt partial. I still want one.

I have been offered a fair deal on a 03 TT w/ 5x,xxx miles...... I am conflicted......
