Classic daily driver for the ordinary classic P-car owner

Looking to swap the A3 for this:

Mercedes 190 E 2,5 16V aut. 4d | Wulff Auto

Not popular with the wife or my mother. But was one of the cool cars when I was just a teenager in the late 80's.

Will it cope with winter and ice cream eating children and uncle Ronnie messin up the rear seats with a Danish whore when visits on his European vacation?

Why what Nick? Not a fan of the 190 16V?

I think it would be a nice classic daily driver that fits the bill to transport the family. The 912 is not too practical with two children, wife and a dog.

Those are freakin' cool! Maybe hang out for a 5 speed?? Pretty sure those had a dogleg 1st, at least the US ones did. Also pretty sure those had mechanical lifters with shim-under-bucket so valve adjustments are pretty involved. Cosworth designed head...

Not a big fan of the slush box, but I like the cars. The have some upside, drafting on M3 E30s that are climbing out of hobby money.

Wally, Colb. The "low" price is because of the slushbox. So that is priced in. I mostly drive around town so all good. Driving with children while drunk and talking on the phone this is the best option - just kidding

All manual 16V are doggy dog legs.

CK,

An Audi A3? A 912? I'm confuseled. LOL

Anyway, if my google exchange rate is working, that's about $25K? I'm guessing you know the market for that type of MB. I sure don't.

I'm not sure I'd be DD'ing a 25 year old car, but hey, I've got one 37 year old car and one 27 year old car in my garage, so who am I to talk?

I used to drive one of these with the 5spd. Was a factory delivered euro spec car I got from original owner. Great car. But I don't think I would want to daily one today.

There's a Cossie powered one with cage on RL right now. That one I would drive.

But who are we kidding. Most guys have to ask their wife. Christian has to ask his mother. He's not getting this car.

912 did not hack it as our DD hence the A3.

Good one funny Matt

My mother sponsored our family car (a3) since I am a broke because of my PAS (Porsche aqusition syndrome) I felt that I had to talk to her before trading it inn.

190 going through PPI Monday - and guess what Matt - it has no books!

Not a chance - NOTHING can cope with the messes I create, so you might as well buy a pressure washer like this one when you buy the car (if yer mommy gives you the go-ahead, like Matt said)!!!

I think that Christian might need to grow a pair to do so, and that is obviously asking a bit to much of the Crazy Dane!!!

Colb, the 928 is not on plates or registered. Bought it as an investment. Replacing the clutch - been doing that for a couple of months now

WPO, they are still in reach

Doing a 928 clutch yourself is a fool's errand. Enter Christian...

Strange, I thought you were a car enthusiast, and not one of the q-tippers who confuse cars with something yer not supposed to drive and enjoy. Holy ****, what is the world coming to when even Danes with a sense of humor are part of the q-tipper crowd?!

Well Ron, I am no q-tipper. But how many old cars can you keep running without getting stressed out?

Will post a pic tomorrow when the 2.5-16 goes through PPI.
