Fire Damaged 911

Sorry for the cross posts....I originally posted in the tech section.

I'm trying to determine what to do with my fire damaged car. I had a fire in my garage which spread to the car. The engine is a rebuilt 3.0 with a rebuilt trans. The fire damage to the engine is only associated with the wiring on top of the engine, hoses, and misc plastic bits. Has SSI exhaust, 16" Fuchs

PS For Sale: OEM Smoked rear tail lights in fair condition. Best offer.

Years ago, I had a fire in my 73 not nearly that bad. My insurance company towed it to a shop. Engine out to pretty much replace all hoses (CIS) and wiring around the engine. Tab was about $4,500 if I recall....You will have all of that, plus paint, glass and I would guess some interior work? good luck and check your insurance policy

Yesterday I thoroughly went through the receipt folder I got with the car putting all of the receipts in chronological order and came to realize the car only has about 55k on it. When I bought it I assumed it was 155k since the odometer is only a 5 digit one. I never directly asked the question to the previous owner. The other thing I came to realize is that the engine and trans only have about 4k miles since being rebuilt (about $15k in receipts). I had pretty much decided to let the insurance company haul it away.....now I'm not sure.

I'm kinda now thinking it may be worth while to just keep it and make it a track car. Thoughts on this paint job as a concept?

Do you want a 3.0 track car? I'd fix it up and keep it stock, or choose my dream color and a few mods. Either way, I see it as a driver, not a track car.

Dang Damon, that sucks. I'm getting ready to tune my Webers on my 2.2. Just another reminder to go get a fire extinguisher today. Did you have one? Did it help?
