87 911 Cabriolet - What should I ask?
I'm thinking of selling my 87 911 Cabriolet.
89k miles, Paint is in outstanding condition. Original interior except for stereo and speakers. After market exhaust (dont know what brand. Bought car with it on.) K&N air filter (have the original). Convertible top is in very good condition. Carpet is original and in fair condition (faded and worn by clutch) . Cruse control does not work, Air conditioning does not work. Overall, extremely clean car. Ive owned the car for about 10 years or so. I live in the Milwaukee WI area. Pros: nice color combo, G50, low miles
Cons: wheels. If you have originals, put them on. Coupe in that condition, 40-47k Cabriolet, 38-42k... for now, probably catch and pass coupes soon. Nice car. |

It has been a great car. Just dont drive it enough to justify having that kind of money sitting in the garage. I loved having the convertible. That was the main reason we bought the car. (it was for my wife's 40th b-day present) Its a great car to have as a vert. With most other cars the convertible version fetches a higher price tag. Why do you think that is? Chassis stiffness? I would think for 90% of the owners out there that wouldn't be an issue. |
Living in Milwaukee you might be able to get away with the A/C not working but that would be an issue for most everyone else- you kind of answered your own question that the cabriolet is viewed by some as a ladies car.

I have one of each, never really noticed one being stiffer than the other, but I'm sure they are. I like both for different reasons. Warm afternoons and evenings in the Cabriolet are unbeatable. Black and tan is a nice combo and for what it's worth, neither of mine have working A/C.
The Mercedes 300SL is the only coupe that is more expensive than the cabriolet version. The Porsche 356's lines are destroyed by removing the top but I will gladly trade my 1962 coupe for one any day of the week.... the 911 will be the same soon. |
I also had a 67 hard top Camaro.... both cars are fun to drive but only got drove when it was nice out.... when its nice out, there is nothing better than a convertible.
Never had a need for A/C with a convertible. Definitely not in the week and a half of summer we have in Wisconsin. Typically my wife has the heat on when we are driving it. |
