another what's it worth w/a twist
 

So here's the story, I'm contemplating some life changes that may make keeping my cars unproductive. Long times away with little chance to use them while having the costs to keep.

So here's the deal: 1989 3.2 Targa and 2003 996 tt.

First the Targa.

102K miles
No leaks and never add oil between changes 3-3.5k miles. so use about 1 quart per 3k miles
orginal paint
orginal interior
garage queen that I've owned since 1998
complete owner history and records
NO paint or body work ever
Diamond Blue and black
Factory LSD, spoilers, sport shock option
Alpine stereo with MB Quart speakers in facotry location and PPI amp in trunk
I can't find the orginal radio probably lost any years ago during a move

In the last 10k miles:
Complete suspension refresh by Mike Callas Rennsport
new clutch --lots of while in there stuff as well
new AC system -still R12 and cold
Fresh brakes and bearings
Targa top done by Carsinc
All new top seals

Needs: Targa top could use a bit more dialing in on fit, smalll recent stone chip in windshield, few normal use stone chips. Passenger seat switch ( will be replaced) and car will have full service ( due now)

2003 996 TT -Seal gray with full leather gray interior. has deviated carpet (black) and stiching. A bit of optional carbon fiber pieces. Porsche COA

Stock car with 40k miles and no performance mods. 19 wheels I not have the factory spec 18 sport techno wheels on the car's option list. Most service records and record of the 30k service as complete. I bought the car with 30k miles last year and use as semi daily driver --per the other thread, yes you can afford one!

The bad: I got dinged in the left rear in stop and go traffic --very minor damage that was repaired by Porsche authorized body shop. About a $1500 job and I have pics of very minor damage and of course the repair documents with lifetime guarantee of work. before that not a mark on the car. AC vent carbon pieces are a bit warped could use replacing --not cheap for factory stuff!

So--what are they worth? seperate or as a package deal! Let the fun begin

Is the 996tt a manual?

Why doesn't the turbo have real plates on it? Are you a dealer?

Thanks for the replies. The turbo is a manual transmission and no I'm not a dealer. The picture was from just after purchase. Those are temp plates Matt
I don't usually post much but been on the forum and buying parts from pelican from since at least 1999--at least that's the oldest invoice I saw in the 89's file-looks like I did a tune up.

At $65 I'd be a buyer for both.

I'm guessing about $45k for the 996tt, and $30k ish for the targa.

I was thinking slightly less for the tt, and a bit more for the Targa. If the Targa is as-described, it's closer to $40k, IMO. $82k for the pair.

I think the targa is going to be the hard one to value. #'s vs condition seem all over the place. I see stuff clearly not as good as this going mid high 30s and what looks as good or better going low 30s. I'm always a bit surprised at how good this car is when I get to PCA get together and see some others. Just used to seeing it all the time.
End of the day, there only worth what someone will pay. Sorry $65 won't get it done NYnick.

If i go to sale, will probably just start a bit high on the targa and see what happens. I think there's enough of a regular market to get close with the turbo although the "secret" of the 996tt has gotten out and nice clean ones are disapearing quickly.

I sold my 89 Targa a year and a half ago for $29,500....a virtual lifetime in Porsche value years. But it was a pretty high price then. If your car is as good as you say, you're certainly in the mid $30's. Upper $30's perhaps. If it's really really special, you might get more, but $40k is quite the barrier to cross, depending on location.

Either way, both are desirable cars today, and will fly out of your driveway if priced correctly.

I'll post them here first if I move forward with sale. I agree not a 40k car in my mind anyway. I'd reserve that kind of $s for collector/concours stuff.

Last year, great color, relatively low miles -- complete records & history, nice tools & accessories. Minimal mods.

The Targa should push 40k.
