BUTT Rich, does she luv long time?!?!?
|
If you can't pick it up immediately to a title and cash swap. My '74 is still in CA getting body and paint. I have paid for it in full and am laying for the work like I would lay for a remodel. Sent a materials deposit last week. I will send more when I see some progress pictures. I will pay the balance when I pick it up in person in Aug or Sept.
I have the title here in Colorado. It is legally my car. We have a very loosely written contract confirmed by email by all parties. Sign and scan stuff if the email isn't enough. But it's my title and my car. I am confident in that. I agree that "public negotiation" is not productive. Rich had a question. If I was Rich and the buyer spoke up in my thread I might kill the deal and look for another buyer. Rich didn't accuse the guy of anything and just wanted education and advice. Joining pelican just to defend oneself from a non-attack would miff me. But maybe that's just me. |

Well, I'm not sure why this entire exchange is being laundered on a public forum. There is no reason why we, Pelicanites, should be weighing in on a private party transaction, other than to give generic opinions and advice.
At this point in this ugly transaction, someone's got to step up and do something. It happens in every deal. In all fairness to both parties, there's a fair bit of nasty paranoia going on here. This started out as a nice and fair transaction. Come on boys, kiss and make up. Mike, spend the $500 (UA roundtrip DFW/SFO) and fly out to buy the car this weekend. The car is worth it as you know. Arrange the shipping in advance and have it picked up or delivered to the shipping company while you're there. Bring a cashiers/bank check for the full amount. Rich, cooperate. He sounds like a real buyer. If you guys can't get it together, you both lose. |

LSM and RG, I have no idea what the truth is in this back and forth, but you two are on different planets. Why are either ONE of you here posting about this stuff? This is a train wreck, and each of you is driving a train. This is becoming a great example of how to NOT work a deal.

I was just asking a question here as Matt pointed out.
He ended the deal this morning. I told him, after reading about his fathers connection again, that I would talk to my wife, about the timing to pick up the car. He couldn't wait 24 hours for an answer. 1. He is not a real buyer. 2. He wasted my time 3. Tom did the PPI for him, I don't have it 4. He probably doesn't have the money 5. He called me a tough guy, and insulted me on this forum and privately The deal is called off. |
Sorry Rich. You'll find another.
|
Rich,
Don't sweat it. There will be another buyer. Don't bother defending your actions any further if Mike keeps posting. It benefits neither you nor your sale. |

Now stop dodging all the car money whistling past yer ears - think what The Hound would do if a pizza, or ten, was nearby! |
There goes the neighborhood, the hound has entered the Marketplace.
|
Rich, so you're no longer selling it (am I reading that right)? Man, for some reason, that is really good to read - sweet!
And regarding the hound's farts; not to worry as I've got my HAZMAT suit ready! |
I have nothing to say about this little mini-drama, and cast no aspersions on anybody, but I will say that based on the information on the ad Rich had up at one time, and what he told me in a message when I asked about it, that Rich's car sounds like quite a nice one for the money, and that I generally support people keeping their 911s if they are not sure they really want to part with them!

This is an unbelievable (almost literally) thread. Can you imagine these two guys negotiating something like the Iranian arms deal?

I guess it's true what PML said so many months ago about buyers and sellers not meeting in the marketplace :-(
Seriously, though, sorry that you guys couldn't work it out. d. |
I feel like I'm being punked...where are the cameras. I was ready and willing to sell, but now I'm glad I didn't. If this was a scam or some sick joke, I could believe it. Surreal. I'm extremely paranoid right now.
Hey Dick (vracer), I thought we were buds? Early 74 shenanigans in Burlingame, remember. |
Don't be paranoid.
I've bought cars at distance and I've purchased and sold locally, but never sold to a remote buyer. Obviously a Local buyer with cash in hand is always the simplest and best. But as a remote buyer I did everything within my power to make things simple and easy for the seller. Just move on. It's your car, and ultimately the deal needs to feel comfortable for you and be easy for you. No fault in holding out for what feels comfortable to you. Good luck! |
