Nice SC widebody

Thoughts on the asking price? Anyone know this car? Certainly couldn't be built for that price.

I'm drooling over this car. Widebody impact bumper coupes really get my blood pumping!

I think the car might be about $6k overpriced even considering the cost to replace the work that has been done. High $30k and I might be selling my 964 to go after this one.

I agree and it might be worth even less than that. The motor, while hot-sounding, does not look very new in the photos. If it's actually fresh it is worth more but with 172K I'd want to see a very detailed service history. For the BIN price you are approaching factory M491 cars.

M491 cars now run in the $60-90k range, from what I've seen on-line. I do agree that $45k is all the money for a well-done conversion. It would be interesting to see the motor's history.

From the looks of the door jamb, I guess that Ronald Mcdonald did the conversion.

I dont get how a car like this gets so much attention here. Oh well, just commented on it again myself.

I would hate to have bought that piece of crap without having seen a pic of that door jamb. Having said that I have bought most of my cars unseen. I guess that experience does give a gut feeling. So I agree one some level, Matt.

It looks to me like rough sanding to remove the Original paint around the Paint ID tag.
A poor job.
Detailed prep. work around jams and such adds a lot of cost to a paint job and for production shops, hard to convince them that it really is seen and inspected.

When I looked at the posting in the cars for sale section here on Pelican, I thought the same as some others here. The price sounds somewhat reasonable for what it is. Then the questions started popping up.

Who built thge motor and when, how many miles on it and can you really know how many are on it? Hard to value the car... does the motor have 20k on it or 120k miles?

Looking at the photos I saw the picture of the drivers B pillar door jamb. Its a mess, IMO thats not lazy sanding, I think it was pretty mangled at one point. The rest of the gaps and panals look decent enough.

I really wonder how that thing runs, whats the motor really like.

Looks great and I love Lindsey Wheels

....edit..... there is no way thats rough sanding... there is filler all over the place there

"I have seen concrete finished better than that."
The rest of the car in the photos looks ok to good, they sure dropped the ball on that door hinge pillar, and knowing it will be looked at is just plain stupid.
Could easily be hiding bondo.
Wrecked cars was a common reason to flare them on repair.

I'm not so sure I agree. I put myself through college rebuilding salvage title vehicles and a wreck doesn't scare me. It would be pretty easy to tell upon inspection what the story with that car is. If they dropped the price to 30k the car would probably sell very quickly. Hell, I might even find myself on a plane to check it out. Like trader said, the gaps look decent otherwise. Something doesn't add up. Why put so much money into a car and leave the pillar in that condition? High resolution close-up pictures may make it look worse than it is. I wouldn't normally look at that area with my eyeballs 6" from the surface.

If the tub is otherwise straight and it can hold an alignment along with good leakdown and compression numbers the car is worth way more than $22k. Hell, a proper widebody conversion on an existing car would cost more than that.
