Boxster airbag light '97

Hi
I did some work on my '97 Boxster and temporarily removed the passenger's airbag. I foolishly turned on ignition to raise top while airbag was disconnected. When all is put back together the airbag light stays on. I understand the dealer has the reader to reset the code. In the meantime, will the bag still deploy in a crash if, God forbid, a crash happens? Thanks.
