Hi all,
Just a note to say how helpful I find the 'buyer beware' posts on this forum are. In my search for my first air cooled car (a Carrera 3.2 - also looking at SC's) I'm finding that even the most legit sounding Craigslist ads can often prove misleading after seeing advice posted by fellow members here who've done further investigtion and shared on this forum.

Is pulling the speedo to see the date stamp really acceptable these days as part of a check on the car? To me it seems cheeky but I guess with so many unscrupulous sellers nowadays in this rising market for air cooled cars it's acceptable...?

Anyway keep on sharing information. To me it's part of what makes this a great community.

Don't completely give up on CL. I bought my car there, and I'm sure many others have too. But like the old Hill Street Blues show said, "Let's be careful out there".
