Investment Grade? Really?

Seems like sellers are really overusing the term investment grade. Every other car that goes up for sale is described as investment grade seemingly regardless of condition and mileage.

For example: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/879422-1995-993-sunroof-coupe.html

83k miles on the clock, paintwork, and a far less than pristine interior wear - yet it's an "investment grade car that is going up in value daily." To me I consider a true investment grade car is one with super low mileage in mint condition that will be purchased with the intention of not driving it often. Once you are at 83k miles I would consider that a nice drivers car, but far from investment grade.

Am I thinking of the term correctly?

The term "investment grade" is one of those subjective terms with no precise meaning. It gets poured over a lot of things and is mostly "sales puffery" with the intent to add value. The car may have value but the words, not so much.

It's also "going up in value daily" so you are stupid not to buy today.

Precisely, and someone jones'd to buy into the air-cooled market will likely buy into the puffery. After all, the least informed buyer pays the most.

You guys are so silly. These are cars, they're not meant for driving, they're intended to fatten up your portfolio.

There is a well known retailer who tends to put "mechanically sound" on every single of his listings.. And taking in account that some of his cars need a full restoration, it makes one wonder what does "mechanically sound" really means to him. I guess as longest the engine turns..

Great to know its there if I need it, but luckily for me I make more than enough money from selling crap to small minded fools like you. So in all honesty I don't worry or mind about sharing it with those who are less fortunate than me ... As for you 'talking', do you honestly think anyone actually listens ?

You sell crap to small "minded", is that a word? The only thing you sell is your flawed ideology. You take my taxes to give to people not contributing. I bet you hide most of your income with cash sales. Get over yourself. Your whole belief system is based on a lie...but you guys have no integrity or honor so you don't give a crap. Like Harry Reid said..." We won didn't we,"

Have a look at Baltimore....

You are not very smart, are you. It's small-minded, with a hyphen. I guess that's what a liberal arts degree gets you. Perfect for your ideology...if you don't know what to fix, then it can't be broken, right. Moron.

I guess everything has some sort of "grade".... Would love to have standardized futures contracts on collector cars. Now that would be a fun pit to trade in.

"June 993 futures.. how are they and how much size can I get?"

I'm a moron ? Come on ... five minutes ago you were unsure 'minded' was even a word. 'Liberal Arts' ? don't know what that is, but yes I do have a Degree and a Masters, and yes both are in the Arts. Frankly speaking they have enabled me to know how to successfully manipulate the (sadly) I'll educated among whose numbers I count you. You will also be pleased to know I recently tasked my company to help to get a Democrat elected ... Hey that's how we keep fixing 'broken'

BTW I love helping you acquire knowledge. Just think when you are blowing hard somewhere you can use the phrase 'small-minded' when talking about someone, or describing someone ... like yourself
