Question I don't get it..... Can someone please explain

Lately I have been following the 993 turbo cars on eBay and was wondering..... Why do the sellers of these cars have a opening bid no where near their asking price? Example,
I saw one car that had an opening bid of $200 with a buy it now price of $229,000.
I will see the same cars repeatedly being relisted.
What's the logic behind such a low opening bid?

Low opening bid attracts more bidders.

I wish they would just list it at their asking price with no reserve instead of wasting everyone's time with bidding that shockingly never comes close to their asinine expectations.

eBay is for exposure, not for selling. Deals are typically done privately thus saving the seller 10%.

Ebay charges a flat fee of $125 to sell a car.

When the time comes, I'll be selling my cars on eBay. I have to admit, I am totally stunned you can sell a $100k car for $125 yet get charged $300 on a $3000 set of wheels.

Using that approach, I may have been best off not selling at all. They have doubled in price since I sold, 3 set of Fuchs 7&9's for $3k or less. Look at them now
