There could probably be some discussion about the stock market's downturn and its potential impact on the collector car bubble and, hence, all the air-cooled Porsche nuttery.

Or just wait 90 days and see what happens instead of guessing.

Stocks being dumped causes the down turn, it also means the sellers have $$$$$$$$ to reinvest.

for margin traders, the recent little blip could be worry some.
for smart investors, until 30-35% drop, there is nothing to worry much about. and a web forum is too difficult to discuss investment theory and global economics |

Quick dump your car's now dropping like a stone.........just pm me first!! Lol
Just another bump in the road, buy some new shocks and carry on. You could always sell you car and invest in the market before it rebounds. |

The invasion of arab and african immigrants to Europe will soon have a much greater impact to the macro economy than Chinas slowing economy.
Germany has taken appx 1 million imigrants this year - so far costing more than 10B Euros! All these new citizens are people who expect and will be given everything without doing anything. My family and I have already started planning our escape to the other side of the world. And I bet thar many other west euro Porsche owners are doing the same. |

Yeah, Nick. NZ is exactly what I meant. US an option, but getting a green card for me and the missus is not a walk in the park.
Market is bouncing back today - hope that you all did not sell your cars yesterday when they were cheap !? |

Not that I'm that well traveled, but NZ is the most beautiful country I've ever visited. People are wonderful. I'd consider it, but it's just too far from 'home' for us.

Interesting article. Pure speculation, but I would think there's not much difference, emotion-wise, between the art market and the high-end of the collector car market. Especially for the recent influx of non-enthusiast buyers. Thoughts?

Don't kid yourself air-cooled porsches are a commodity. Like the Art market and historic collectables they rise when the economy is robust and money is more liquid. If the economy weakens Art is the first to slow, as are non-essentials like muscle cars. The best and rarest will rule. Sorry to say the majority of porsches are not rare.
When the stock market cools, those with cash may move to more tangible income producing assests like real estate. People need housing, not classic cars. Having said all this, I hope my air-cooled steel continues to non-deflate. |
