What is an 87 3.2 engine worth please?

Car was a running car with 66k on engine when car had a trunk harness fire. Fire didn't leave trunk area and engine is complete. A friend wants it and don't really want to sell it but if I did sell, I'd want to get close to fmv. So what's the engine worth? Any help seriously appreciated. Thx. Mark

I wouldn't sell it for less than $6,500 if it's complete, computer, wiring, ect. And only to a very GOOD friend for that price., Like he'd owe you a whole bunch of favors as well. $7,500 is probably more realistic for that low of miles if its accurate, and will owe you a bunch of favors. Its actually worth a bit more than $8,000 if its that good if you can get the money. An easy way is to call around and see what it would cost to get one overhauled and add about $2,500 for a core motor to the price. You will have little problem selling it, so don't let it go because he plays the 'friend' card!

Why would you not rebuild? A 66,000 mile G50 Carrera is worth a pretty penny and it does not sound if damage was all that significant.

I second everything CraogerZ wrote.
The Day is long gone when you can find a good 3.0/3.2 for under 5k.

Agreed. Based on the high demand, low availability and the insanity of asks for 3.6's, I'd say start at $10k and take $8k for a good, verified 3.2

I found an 87 930 3.3 engine and with the G50 it's a bolt in rocket. If I sell 3.2 that would fund the rest of the car or keep the 3.2 for originality on a shelf. Not sure I want to sell but if I did I don't wanna leave a lot on the table. I think I have most of the parts to put it together. Either way Thx for all the evaluation. When I see 70e engine cores selling for 8500. And S engines asking 20k it's only a matter of time 3.2 will be worth 20k too. Some are already 20k for rebuilt or race engines.
