Think they'll get it? What do you think it is worth restored given that the engine is gone?

I think even if you already owned the engine, $100K+ is too much.

Please help me understand. I genuinely want to learn/know. What is the appeal of that car? 130K?! It's not even a car per se, it doesn't run or do anything a car does. Is it just a status symbol?

Like a rich man's expensive watch? I own 2 Porsches, but they appeal to me as drivers and engineering marvels. Also somewhat how people look at them and get a little drool (as unique looking cars).

But what is their worth in a garage? Is it some nostalgia tickle? The allure of future money?

Or is that Alex/beverhillsclub guy just one smart genius??

The car is one of the first 1000 911s ever made. Maybe you don't place value on that, but a lot of people do.

Long nose 911s, and additionally early SWB 911s are in a totally different stratosphere of value from impact bumper cars. The car in this ad needs 6 figures of restoration work and even then it will never be numbers matching. But to some people that's close enough, and as such they will be players on this car.

You make the watch reference. A Rolex is more than just an expensive watch. It is a precision timepiece that will both look good and function superbly for decades. An old 911 is the same way. And a 50 year old one is going to automatically be worth more than a similar condition 40 year old one. In that decade difference how they made them changed. How many they made per year changed. And the design and technology changed. Those things are of worth to someone who cares about the evolution of the species. And in many instances, be it a watch, or a car, getting one that is the older original design and more rare, is worth much much more, often on an exponential scales of 10 times or 20 times or even 50 times more.

I owned 300760 so very close to that in production. Mine is being restored as we speak condition wise this car is more complete. That being said I think this car would sell in the $60k range.

What is it worth refinished with non match motor? I'm guessing $250k so at 130k start price you will be above the current rate after restoration.

I was thinking the BHCC car was worth around $80-90k to the right buyer. Do they take cars on consignment? If so, they can sit on it for as long as the owner wants to hold out for a higher price.
