Did anyone even see the car in the ad?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/899724-1977-porsche-carrera-3-0-books-tools-records-runs-great.html I hate when everything is erased like that. MattR |

There was a car on the ad initially. Now gone. Hopefully they delete quickly. Tim

He now changed the text to a wanted ad...
I just wish folks would leave the ad and original asking price. No need to disclose the actual deal... MattR |

It lasted about 35 minutes.. I saw it right when it came up. Not sure what that is worth w/o the matching engine. $70-$90k? But sure whoever bought it for $55k must be happy.

Didn't see the ad but underselling like that would be a weird move from that guy Dino, who seems to be a flipper's flipper.

Anyone know what happened to this car? I saw the ad briefly. Is it real?

A couple years ago I would have said what's the fuss? - it's just an old silver SC. Now the 3.0 Carrera is a pretty legit Carrera and getting some big money. Nice looking car. Wouldn't that have been all the money with the incorrect engine?

If it's a correct 930/02 replacement case and not a run of the mill 3.0 SC motor the value might not take a huge hit. What's special about these motors is the 2.7 RS crank and flywheel and I believe the clutch assembly was part aluminum.
I've seen discussed that a complete 930/02 motor is a $15-25k item alone not considering a rebuild. Numbers matching is of course preferred and will certainly be a big deal in the future going forward. Similar to 911S, 911RS, 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI having their correct motors. |

Probably a smoking deal then. If the motor is that special - I remember one in the for sale section 4 years ago and it went for $4k - and it went very quickly. Special cars for sure. They will only become more and more special as time goes on.

I don' t think the crank is anything special, it's a 6 bolt 70.4 mm crank, the cases are sought after they are great for building good race motors. The 3.0 have increased in value significantly in the few years, I sold a basket case targa a couple of years ago, I knew I'd regret it and I do.
