OK, here's one that's interesting at an interesting price

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/886515-great-price-1983-911sc.html

Let's assume that the ad copy is mostly accurate (LOL, ASS U ME), and that the car really only needs a trip to the upholstery shop to fix up the seat. That price for that color combo seems reasonable, yes?

Price seems about right for a nice not so perfect car. If I was in the market I would look at it.

These days $26k buys you a very mediocre coupe or a decent Targa, so this could be anywhere between a phenomenal deal on a upper-3 range car (with sport seats to boot!) and an OK price on a car that needs TLC. Unfortunately the ad lacks detail and leaves a lot of obvious questions unanswered, so hard to say.

Anyhow I PMd the seller, if the car is anywhere near NY I'm gonna be all over it, in which case I'll let you know.

Thanks, Rick. It'll be nice to know if the ad copy is reflected in the car quality.

This seller was part of a Lamborghini Countach debacle a few years back on the Ferrari chat site.... proceed with caution.

I know of a similar (but worse) debacle over a '66 911, same dude - Frank.
Car did finally sell to a different buyer (a year later at a much higher price). Ended up seeing that car in the flesh and I'd say the buyer was misled (tons of bondo'd over rust)
I give up!!~Countach re-listed - FerrariChat.com
Do you guys remember that black 355... - Page 2 - FerrariChat.com

Thanks. I guess that the "phenomenal deal" scenario is quite unlikely at this point.

According to Wayne's rules, you are not to delete for sale items once sold. On every car he sells he deletes posts? Seems a bit odd. Tim

Waiting to see who buys it, and what it really is like. Seems like a fair deal until you see the seller's track record.

Seems like the "great price + really crappy ad" test is quite robust
