79 ROW non sunroof coupe value?

I have a 79 non sunroof coupe (ROW) that I'm going to be selling and could use some advice on what its worth. It was built to be a street/autox/trackday car. I got the car about 2yrs ago from a couple that inherited it from a friend who unfortunately passed away before he had a chance to use it. It's had a down to bare metal window out respray, there is no rust (I was given photos of the car bring prepped for paint) I think the original color might have been green. There has been maybe 1500-2000 miles on it since the rebuild. No records or receipts came with the car but it for sure had many new suspension parts upgraded, adjustable spring plates, adjustable sway bars (the fronts were converted to the early through body style) adjustable rear shocks, turbo tie rods and bump steer kit, 930 brakes with floating rotors (I love the brakes they are so powerful and easy to modulate, they will be missed). Other mods include pop out rear windows, cross braces in the trunk, corbeau seats, shoulder harness brace with 5point harness(not shown in any photos, I removed them as I had no interest in racing the car) rs door panels, a paint match whale tail also would go with the car. Like new 60 series tires and a set of like new 50 series also will go with it. Like new carpet and rubber seals. It weighs 2380lbs with 1/4 tank of gas and made 170hp at the wheels on a dyno, so its very quick and handles really well. Its quiet and smooth, shifts nice and pulls smooth, the motor is a US spec 83 and I believe the transmission is number matching for the car. there is no radio or A/C, the heat works good,a crack on the top of the dash small oil drip and a puff of smoke on cold start up maybe 1/4 of the time. As it was built for performance, originality wasn't given much thought and that will probably turn off some purest, but I would think it would run circles around a stock SC. So what do you think I should ask? thanks, Glenn

Very hard to put a price on it imho. It's quite a special car, that appeals to a smaller pool of buyers. Looks like bringing it back to stock would be a lot of work and money. Crack in the dash sucks.
Maybe you could show it at $30k and see what happens? There's a hot rod on ebay with a built carb engine that's asking 27.5k, but that's all stock other than engine (so more appealing in my view).

Your best bet of selling it could be through local HPD clubs and events. Show up at the track and see how much interest there is.

Bear in mind that nobody buys an SC seeking pure performance, when for the same money a modern car will eat it up.

Love the car (except the white gauges). It's right up my alley. I disagree with Rich that it's a small pool of buyers. Biggest hit to value is the non-original engine, plus no mention of the head studs being replaced. Resolve the stud question.

I don't think it would last very long at $30k.

I think the non- sunroof will be very appealing to many buyers that like the track minded, but still docile 911 hot rod. I would totally drive that car. Probably worth between 25k and 30k, depending on the buyer. For some, the upgrades are a great thing, and for some it will be a turn off.

thanks

Thanks for the quick response guys, 25-30 is right in line with what i was thinking. It would be a great choice for someone with a real nice 911 that they might not want to add miles too, you could have all the fun with this one and it probably still increase in value. PS the car is in washington state and I had no problems with the DMV

gfrick,
Is the exhaust stock or is that upgraded too (i.e SSI's)? Paint job looks good from the pic's. You mentioned that the car may have been originally green from the factory. What does the paint code sticker in the trunk say? Are there any areas of the car that are still green?

The exhaust is stock, I couldn't find any green on the body, but it was stripped down to a shell for the respray so the pre paint photo I was given is the only clue that it was green. The trunk tag has #9119305071 and 911---s66 and a M there is a door tag that says made in western germany kunstharzlack #801k ,weiss. the door tag might not be original its look to shiny. hopefully one of you can shed some light on the original color, or I could get the porsche certificate. heres some more photos.

If it was originally green then they did a helluva job on the respray, looks fabulous! With those upgrades, non-sunroof coupe with fresh bare metal paint job... Non original motor sucks but not the end of the world on this car.

I'd ask $40K+ ALL DAY LONG. Might not get it but I'm sure it won't be far off~

I don't know about way high. It's about all you could ask for this car and get it in a reasonable time frame. I'm thinking that the mods are actually tasteful, and something that folks would like. The car seems to be in reasonable condition as well. Since there seems to be an enthusiast premium on ROW, and sunroof delete, I would seriously add at least $5k to what a N.A. market sunroof car would go for.

In fact, if I had to do it again, I would buy a ROW non-sunroof car over the one I have, if I could get one in similar shape.

Agreed. I love the car personally, just think 40 is high. Actually, I think 35 is too. Good buy at $30 though.

Absolutely. If I could recover from the inevitable divorce, I'd throw down $30k cash for that, no question.

Non matching engine offsets value for ROW non-sunroof in my opinion. That said, it's $30k minimum if mileage is reasonable.

Again thanks for the responses, The car is in washington state as far as the miles go I think its probably not a factor theres just to many changes from original, it is very tight and there are so many new non original parts. I don't think its worth $40 ether but that is why I posted it here. I really am having a hard time pricing it
