Abreu Motors in Indiana
Hi All,
Has anyone had any dealings with Abreu Motors in Carmel, IN? I am leaning towards this car... Thoughts? Concerns? Thanks! Used 1971 Porsche 911 T for sale in CARMEL, IN | Abreu Motors LLC http://photos3.automanager.com/020310/cfa7c6a26e334bb2868a782e2a0626ee/71b9c90abc_800.jpg

I've shopped there a few times. It's a nice little dealership, but wouldn't have a clue if same sales people or not. They tend to keep a nice variety of classics on hand. Typical cars tend to be in the moderately nice conditions. I've seen XKE's to Lambo's in the show room. Looked at a nice IROC years ago and tested a XKE. I no longer live in Indy, or I'd be happy to run by for you.

More info......
Abreu Motors Fine Automobiles - Car Dealers - 31 3rd St SW - Carmel, IN - Reviews - Photos - Yelp Based on personal experience with them, I would suggest ignoring anything they say about car history and do a thorough search of VIN #, etc. Also, they have a list of close by shops that will conveniently do a PPI, but I would suggest going through the Indy PCA or other sources to get an independent recommendation for PPI.

FYI - here's a prior ad for that car. Don't see a date but it may be helpful in tracking down the prior owner(s)

If you want a PPI done on any car in the Indy area, Bob Farmer should be your only call. He is trustworthy and to the point. I trust no one else for this type of inspection in the state of Indiana, especially these folks only looking to profit.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/860418-porsche-911-t-coa.html Interesting post. So the poster flecha tried from April till August to sell it for $67K on Hemmings and this site - and then apparently ended up dealing it to Abreu? Not often that a car goes from overpriced straight to wholesale. But then again, as Abreu told me, they're selling these cars to Europe all the time so they can probably afford to buy at retail.

I have purchased from Abreu, long distance. At the time, they had what I was looking for, had been looking a while.
Was browsing ads online on a Saturday morning, saw the car I had been looking for, called them, gave a refundable deposit based on PPI outcome over the phone. Deal was done before the end of the next week, car in possession just over a week later. Had PPI performed at Euro Motorworks. Euro was beyond thorough. Based on PPI, was able to negotiate what I believed to be a fair price. Did not think I was getting a great deal, but not being taken advantage of either, fair. I knew what I was getting and what the car needed. They were easy to work with, worked with me on price based on PPI. BTW, they took the car to the shop of my choosing for me for PPI, arranged shipping at a reasonable price. No affiliation what so ever, just a good experience. |

Every photo is so photo-shopped its hard to get a good sense of the car. So many sellers gloss their photos. I am not sure if they think it makes the car look better or they're hiding something. Either way its a killer, because you cant get a real sense of the car with so much blending and highlighting etc etc.
They buy a lot of "stories" cars. Ones with mileage issues on the carfax. They had a run of cars with salvage titles which amazingly enough all were stolen at one time and not wrecked. I went the distance with them on an RSA 18 months ago but in the end even after speaking to several people up the food chain I could not get any straight answers. The car was "stolen" in the 1990's and recovered supposedly not wrecked. We were very close on price but in seeing the car there was paint work on just about every panel, had the wrong seats ( they assured me they had the correct ones on the way) etc etc. I was not willing to pay what I felt was a bit too much (all things considered) and take a flyer hoping they really did have the correct seats on their way. I am not canning them totally you just really need to do your homework, they're a fill em and bill em kind of shop who jumped into the 911 market as it got hot. People were nice and they got back to me and answered many of the questions. Enough so that I took the trip there.

Bottom line, if your are looking for a specific car, be ready to pull the trigger and do your homework. Think they move a lot of cars, put up some pretty pictures. My car was not as pretty as pictured on their site. They thought Euro Motorworks was hard on the car regarding PPI, but we negotiated a fair price.
Not any different than if you were buying from CL, better do you homework. |
