2.2 motor & 901 trans feeler

My friend has 2.2 motor with webber carbs and 901 trans that he wants to sell soon. It runs & shifts good, i drove the car last night. He'll get compression test numbers soon.

The motor is #6112832, we believe its a 1971 motor.

Any idea on a value for this combo? Are 901's worth anything?

Should be a 71 T engine.

Gearbox should be a 911 gearbox, not a 901. They are not the same thing. One is aluminum and the other is magnesium and the gear ratios are quite different between the two.

OK, thanks Matt, i'll ask to owner to look for a trans serial number tonight.

Any idea on a value for this combo, is it a $5k combo or closer to $10k assuming everything is in great running condition?

I'm not 100% up on the engine values, but I would guess $3-5 for the engine. The Webers are worth $1200-1500 by themselves with manifolds and linkages. It would have been Zeniths originally. May be more money in selling the carbs separate.

Now, I am assuming the Webers are not special. If they are IDS carbs from an S or bigger than 40mm that's a different game. You need to look at the stampings on the side of the carbs or pull the air cleaners and look for the extra squirter.

The gearbox, if a 911 box, is worth around $1000.

sell it while it is still in the car so future buyer can drive and run it assuming you get a local buyer.
If not video prior to pulling

Ok the trans has 901/02 stamped on it.

Yes I think he'd want someone to test drive it before buying it. The car is in Oshawa Ontario Canada.

That's a 68S gearbox. Worth $1500-2000.

Definitely check those carbs before you get too far along on any deal.

If someone needs that engine it's worth a lot more than 3-5k. I've seen Ida webers sell for 2500. - 3k alone in the last 3 months.

67-68S transmission depending on the serial number
I'd be interested in the transmission alone.

I would be interested in the motor if 914agogo is just looking to buy the tranny.

Thanks for the info guys. The carbs are Zeniths. I had thought the PO said they were webbers, my mistake. The owner has been in touch with a number of people about the engine trans combo but both are still available at this point.
